How it Works

It's easy to create a LiveContentWall for any CoveritLive event. Using the EventDesigner your event can be displayed on your website as a "Wall" view in addition to OR as an alternative to the default Stream (Viewer Window). As with all CoveritLive events, all of your real-time content is moderated and published using EventStudio.

It's also easy to create multiple Walls for a single event. For example, by turning specific content types on or off you could have one embedded 'Wall' display only the Tweets from your event, and another 'Wall' display all of the published images and Instagram posts. EventDesigner makes it easy to customize your event display size and content to fit various display requirements.

Steps to Create a Wall:

  • The first step is to build an event by selecting the "+Add New Event" link in the left hand toolbar of your account. Fill out the event details in the fields provided. These details include the event title and type (we strongly recommend selecting Ticker if you are creating a LiveContentWall).
  • Once you enter your event details you will be prompted to enter the event options. CoveritLive includes many advanced options to customize your event, including the ability to invite Panelist/Producers to help you moderate and publish content. (Please note that the Wall view does not support all CiL options, such as Reader logins)
  • Your Wall is embedded on your website using a unique embed code. This embed code is generated using the EventDesigner, which allows you to easily customize your live event experience. To create a LiveContentWall select "Wall" as your View option from the EventDesigner.
  • You can control the size of your Live Wall by using the Dimension settings. (Infinte Height and 100% Width are recommended for the best social wall experience).
  • By default your Wall view includes preset content types. These are the content types that will appear on your Wall when published using EventStudio. To show or hide a specific content type use the on/off setting. (ON = Display, OFF = Hide).
  • By default the LiveContentWall appears on a grey background. If "Transparent" is turned ON it replaces the default grey with transparency so you can easily place the LiveContentWall on a custom background of your choice.
  • When you’re done customizing your Wall, simply copy and paste the embed code from the EventDesigner onto your website where you want the Wall to appear. (All embed codes are mobile-friendly)

Selecting Content Types:

By default your LiveContentWall will include ten (10) preset content types. These are the content types that are currently supported and will appear on your Wall when published using EventStudio. Other content (not included in the list) that is published using EventStudio will not appear on the Wall. To show or hide a specific content type use the on/off setting available in the EventDesigner. (ON = Display, OFF = Hide). Tip! Posts that include images look the best on a Wall.

  • CiL Comments: Any original comment published by an event Writer, Producer or Panelist.
  • CiL Images: Any published Media Library images or images uploaded using EventStudio.
  • Twitter: All published Twitter posts. Embedded images will also be included (and look great!). Vine posts are not currently included due to display restrictions in certain browsers.
  • Instagram: All published Instagram posts. Published Instagram videos are also included (Readers can click to play).
  • Facebook - All published Facebook posts. Embedded images will also be included.
  • YouTube: All published YouTube videos will be included.
  • Wikipedia: All published Wiki posts. Images will be included.
  • RSS: All published RSS posts. Images will be included.
  • Vines: All published Vine videos. (** Available only for certain Custom Accounts )
  • Reader Comments: While Reader comments can be displayed, the Wall view does NOT include an embedded reader comment box for collecting new comments. Therefore this option is best used in addition to the Viewer Window "Stream".

Important Information:

  • If you want to create a long running or permanent LiveContentWall we highly recommend using a Ticker.
  • The Wall view displays only selected content types - these are configured using the ‘Content Types to Display’ section in the EventDesigner. Content types that are not included in the 'Content Types to Display' list will not appear on the Wall (even if they are published to your event).
  • Wall View does not currently display any published Pinned items. (However we do have plans to add support for this feature in the future).
  • While Reader comments can be displayed, the Wall view does not include an embedded Reader comment box for collecting new comments. Therefore this option is best used in addition to the Viewer Window "Stream".
  • While the LiveContentWall works great as a curated social wall, this view is not recommended for live chat. We recommend using the Stream (Viewer Window) view instead.
  • You can further customize the Wall view by overriding the default CSS. Contact your CoveritLive Account Manager, or CiL Support to learn more.
  • Clicks are counted the first time a Reader interacts with the Wall in some way (e.g. scrolls through content, clicks on a piece of content) OR if the Reader is engaged with the page where your Wall is embedded for an extended period (one minute or more).
