It’s enough to make you want to hop on a plane and heady somewhere nice and warm
I know, we’re not supposed to complain, especially after the super summer we had, but...

Royal Newfoundland Constabulary officers were called to the holding cells at Provincial Court late Thursday morning.
Two female youths are alleged to have caused damage to government property while being transported to court.
They have been charged with one count each of property damage.

WestJet flight WS324 from Toronto has been delayed by a couple of minutes and will arrive at 11:53 a.m.
And Provincial Airlines flight PB927 leaving for Deer Lake and Wabush will now depart at 17:45, instead of 17:10 p.m.

More on Operation Impact...
The Burin Peninsula District RCMP would like to introduce Operation Impact 2012, a national program, which is an initiative designed to increase the public's compliance with safe driving measures and to save lives. Police will be targeting behaviors that increase risk for drivers, passengers and other road users. Police seek to increase the public's ability to drive alert, sober, using seatbelts and without distractions such as using handheld cellphones. Operation Impact will occur throughout the Peninsula, between the 5th and the 8th of October, 2012. The Burin Peninsula District RCMP continue to work with the public in providing safer roads in our communities. The public's assistance is essential, in keeping communities safe and are encouraged to report possible impaired drivers and persons operating in an unsafe manner, by calling the RCMP at (709) 279-3001.

When criminal beahaviour hits close to home, people tend to feel the amount of crime is on the rise, even if statistically that’s not always the case. Of course, there are also crimes that go unreported.

The Telegram wants to know how you feel about crime where you live, whether it's drinking and driving, break-ins, vandalism, assault, or any other crime. Do you feel safe in your neighbourhood or community?

Take a couple of minutes complete our Crime Survey. You don’t have to give your name, but we'd like to know how you feel about a topic that has the potential to touch us all.

Anyone in the province can complete the survey, but please do so only once. We will tabulate the results for 30 days and then report our findings back to you.
