Is Del Zotto's spot in jeopardy? Did u see him being a healthy scratch at all or possibly traded down the line?
Thursday October 17, 2013 12:02 CTRANGER
12:02
I don't think so. Who's going to replace him. He's a legit 5-6 on any team in the NHL.

Carp - thanks for this as always. Do you think there was any actual weight behind the apparent calling out of some players AV did a couple of days ago?
Thursday October 17, 2013 12:02 Draxen559
12:03
Well, he did the right thing. As he said, it's a performance-based business. So they'd better perform. The only problem is, there's not much competition for jobs in the organization at the moment.

Brouwer gets no discipline.
Thursday October 17, 2013 12:03 profet
12:03
Correct. The NHL reviewed it and ruled it was accidental.

Do you think Miller will see more than 4 line minutes? The announcers were all over Pouiliot last night.
Thursday October 17, 2013 12:04 CTRANGER
12:04
Only if he deserves it. I think he will eventually.

Everyone seems to be praising Cally for his game last night. But it seemed to me he turned over the puck quite a few times in the defensive zone. Or am I crazy?
Thursday October 17, 2013 12:04 profet
12:05
He did. But he did a lot of good things, too. Can't be too picky. Nobody plays a perfect game.

If I set Kreider's O/U for goals at 7.5, what side are you taking?
Thursday October 17, 2013 12:05 Mister D
12:05
In Hartford?

I think he will eventually be a very good player. But he hasn't been for the last two seasons.

Hi Carp. How useful do you think Matt Cooke's player rehab course would be for Sean Avery?
Thursday October 17, 2013 12:05 Jeff

Sean might have to fish those skates out of the river.

the hit was accidental...moving on.
Thursday October 17, 2013 12:06 CCCP

OK. I'm not convinced it was or wasn't. I've only seen one replay.

[Comment From LurkerLurker: ]
Carp, if Nash comes back and plays relatively well up to the trading deadline, and he Rangers are floundering (on the brink of the playoffs) would you consider moving him to a true contender for prospects/high draft picks? Would Sather? Sort of like what Alderson did with Beltran 2 years ago?
Thursday October 17, 2013 12:06 Lurker
12:07
Doubt that Sather would do that. They never want to be sellers unless they're completely hopelessly out of it. But let's face it, Nash is going to be a health risk the rest of his career after multiple concussions.

If you had to pick 3 guys on the active roster right now who aren't at the end of the year, who are you picking?
Thursday October 17, 2013 12:07 Mister D
12:08
Wow. I guess I'm going to hedge and say it depends on how the season goes. There's no way to know. And, no, Slats doesn't listen to the fans and their idea of "useless" players.

[Comment From Draxen559Draxen559: ]
it seems that the Rangers players are even more passive in the wake of incidents like the Brouwer-Stepan hit from last night than they were last year or any year under torts. Do you think this is directive from the coaching staff to not get mixed up in those sorts of things? conversely do you think this speaks to just a lack of team toughness or togetherness
Thursday October 17, 2013 12:08 Draxen559
12:09
I just think this team is now loaded with soft players. Seriously, who among the forwards is going to stick up for a teammate?

Thanks for chat Carp! I know it's real early, but Rangers look like they will battle for the 7th or 8th slot the whole season do u agree? Toronto, Detroit, Pitt, Montreal and Boston should get spots and that leaves only 3 slots for the Rangers. Devils possibly out again??
Thursday October 17, 2013 12:09 CTRANGER

I picked the Rangers to finish second in the Lesstropolitan Division. I'm sticking to that.

Does Hagelin drastically change our top 6 for the better?
Thursday October 17, 2013 12:10 profet

While I don't see him as a terrific top six, he's better than some of the guys they roll out there -- No. 67, No. 36, No. 14.

Are we back to the days of 7th-10th place finishes (or in this case, 4th-5th place in the division) with this team?
