Good morning:
I'm back with The Telegram live blog after taking two weeks of vacation.

I've always joked about the weather turning bad when I take vacation, but this time topped anything before with the snow storms, power outages, rolling blackouts and The Telegram staff being displaced from the Village mall.

Well, the weather this week looks much more promising with milder temperatures.

The MV Flanders is operating on a one-vessel enhanced service and will be operating through the lunch hour.

Marine Atlantic sailings last night from Port aux Baques and North Sydney were cancelled due to high winds.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary is investigating a stabbing incident Sunday in St. John's.

In a news release, the RNC said a 46-year-old woman was in police custody and that its investigation into the incident was ongoing.

The 47-year-old female victim received serious injuries that police described as “consistent with a stabbing.” She was taken to hospital.

Police received a report of an assault with a weapon at a home on Cowan Avenue at approximately 2:30 p.m.

A former chairman of the Public Utilities Board (PUB) is questioning the provincial government’s decision to pay for an independent review of the electrical system while the PUB conducts its own investigation into the cause of recent blackouts that affected most of Newfoundland.

David Vardy says he didn't expect the provincial government would make such a move following a recent plethora of power outages that started as rotating ones but later affected more than half of Newfoundland Power’s customers.

I just received a news release from the RCMP that its 2014 Klondike Night has been postponed until May 9.

The RCMP headquarters in St. John's sustained water damage and the area of the building affected is where Klondike Night is held each year.

The RCMP Klondike Night beneficiaries are the Candlelighters and Children’s Wish Foundation. Both are children’s charities.
