Brad, what's your take on Flank in the offseason and Wilson in general?
Tuesday January 29, 2013 7:00 Rare Rat
7:02
Brad Wilson:
RR, I like Flank a lot, a tough kid with the right attitude. He's been to Hershey once and has that experience so I think he should medal. As for Wilson, the numbers make it tough at the moment, I do predict a revival though. And in my experience Wilson has some of the nicest kids you'll ever meet.

How many regional state champs in PA? NJ?
Tuesday January 29, 2013 7:02 Dwirl
7:03
Brad Wilson:
Flank would be ranked higher but 106 is tough and Wilson's schedule isn't like P'burg's or Parkland's or Becahi's.
Tuesday January 29, 2013 7:03 Brad Wilson
7:03
Brad Wilson:
Dwirl, frankly I haven't looked ahead that far. More in PA I'd say. Ask me that in a couple oif weeks.

What was your take on the Saylor Zinmeister match last week?
Tuesday January 29, 2013 7:04 OldSchool
7:04
Brad Wilson:
I love Paetzell's attacking mentality and he has really grown as a wrestler. I like his chances to get a medal in Atlantic City.
Tuesday January 29, 2013 7:04 Brad Wilson
7:05
Brad Wilson:
Saylor was impressive. Easton needed that one. Jimmy fights hard and looked very secure on his feet.
Tuesday January 29, 2013 7:05 Brad Wilson

For a freshman, Saylor is tremendous. Lots of promise ahead with the Rover ninth graders.

[Comment From D11D11: ]
O'Donnell vs Bradley...who wins that bout? And don't you think that Green well proved he is superior at 182? No doubt Ortiz is quality, but he hasnt been impressive against Liberty or Easton. Cortopassi is no joke, and granted he bumped up, but Green taught him a lesson
Tuesday January 29, 2013 7:06 D11
7:08
Brad Wilson:
Bradley beats O'Donnell on size alone. Ray's not that big. As for Greene, I did strongly think about making a change there this week, D11. Tyler looked terrific against a very tough nut in Cortopassi but you can't ioverlook the weight difference. It is very close at 182.

[Comment From OldSchoolOldSchool: ]
While I think Ortiz is very good, it does suprise me that Greene is not ranked ahead based on the body of work over the course of his career and his stellar season to date. With that being said, I do expect Ortiz to be top 3 in the state in AA

Brad Wilson:
Tom, I can tell you SV is very concerned with how they match up with Pen Argyl should it come to that. But I think the Panthers' depth gets it done. I do think it will be a competitive matchup.

I'd also like to say, Mikey Racciato is a great kid, no questions asked, and a tremendous wrestler. But as far as a technical wrestler he isnt. He beats kids on athleticism alone. Timmy Darling would have spanked Mikey, probably would have caught him reaching back and pinned him. Nervertheless, Mikey will dominate his way to his 3rd state title

Brad Wilson:
Wrestler, the CL is really down. Teams like Catty and Southern Lehigh have impressive records but don't test themselves against the best like PA and SV do. Palisades has some really good kids but is hurting numbers-wise. Northern, Northwestern are shells of what they used to be,. Palmerton is decent.
Tuesday January 29, 2013 7:14 Brad Wilson

Tim Darling did beat Quentin Wright in the state finals, however, Quentin was a sophomore at the time. Racciato does need to improve on technique, but you have to consider the kid only wrestles during the regular season. The kid doesn't go to any offseason tournaments, nor does he wrestle at any clubs. I would be willing to bet he will be a multiple time All-American and possibly multiple time NCAA champ.

Honestly I feel every parent has the right to place their child in the best situation to succeed. If your child is musically inclined, you may move to a school with a good music program. Why should it be any different in athletics. If my child was a talented swimmer, I would not move into a school district that did not have a pool. Just saying
