Friday December 28, 2012 1:06 Guest

George -- The suspended players haven't officially been announced, but at least one media outlet is reporting that Case McCoy (backup QB) and Jordan Hicks (injured LB who wasn't going to play anyway) have been sent home for a violation of team rules. The common logic is that those are the 2 Texas players currently being investigated for an alleged sexual assault that happened around 2:30 in the morning.

If that is indeed true, we are trying to figure out who the Longhorns' backup QB would be if David Ash (the starter) couldn't play. I'm pretty sure the third string QB is the punter, Alex King, but not 100 percent certain.

I don't think at bowl games recruits can get on-field passes, but I"m not sure. And I'm not sure how ticket distribution works with recruits at a bowl game. Back when the bowl game was first announced, one of the Texas beat guys told me that if the good Texas showed up, they could very well blow OSU out of the water. But if the bad Texas showed up, anything was possible. Sounds like these guys suffer from a little bi-polar disorder on the football field. Poyer's issue was dealt with and taken care of in the offseason. I recommend you brush up on the police reports and get all the facts before you decide who should and should not play. I also think you have to remember that a person of color stands out in a very white community. That also makes them more visible.

Good point Lindsay. And it's hard to miss the guys who are physically bigger than everyone else on campus, too.

Our The two Texas players sent home today for a Friday night incident team starters??

Lindsay Schnell:
Way back on Dec. 3 I said it would be Oregon State 35, Texas 31. I'll stick with that, but add this: Markus Wheaton and Brandin Cooks HAVE to get going early so the running game can move and Cody Vaz can breathe.

Benny 2: As I said earlier, we don't know for sure who was sent home, but at least one place is reporting it's Case McCoy, the backup QB.

Do you think players like Poyer is treated better because he is a local product from Oregon.

Lindsay Schnell:
No. I think if anything, people are looking for Poyer to mess up more because he's from Oregon and has a lot of expectation on his shoulders.

Why do you think that Riley went with Vaz?
Friday December 28, 2012 1:41 The real Benny

Lindsay Schnell:
I think what it comes down to is what while Vaz might not make spectacular plays, he also doesn't make spectacular mistakes. He's not a roller coaster; he's pretty steady. I think Sean Mannion is very good and I believe very strongly that he'll be a great QB for this program. But sometimes he tries to do too much, and it hurts him, big-time.
