Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:01 Casey
1:01
Snyder:
had my first draft August 2nd ... am looking forward to several more
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:01 Snyder
1:01
Snyder:
the injury ward?
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:01 Snyder
1:01
Tom Herrera:
Speaking of the Hawks -- what's with that running back situation?
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:01 Tom Herrera
1:01
Snyder:
it's gonna be interesting to see the receiving situation as well

Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:01 Snyder
1:01
Tom Herrera:
Yeah, bump Nate Burleson a bit up the rankings, no?
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:01 Tom Herrera
1:01
Snyder:
absolutely
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:01 Snyder
1:02
Tom Herrera:
Who knows if Bobby Engram will be out even longer than expected at his age
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:02 Tom Herrera
1:02
Tom Herrera:
Seattle's not the only one with muddle running back situation --- Baltimore isn't looking too good after McGahee's injury either
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:02 Tom Herrera
1:02
[Comment From CaseyCasey: ]
And Branch too
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:02 Casey
1:02
Tom Herrera:
You a fan of Ray Rice, Snydz?
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:02 Tom Herrera
1:03
Snyder:
I love Ray Rice ... always a fan of the little guys ... but damn is he small
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:03 Snyder
1:03
Tom Herrera:
Yeah, and he's not gonna have much padding for him
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:03 Tom Herrera
1:03
Tom Herrera:
that O-line is very questionable
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:03 Tom Herrera
1:03
Tom Herrera:
If anything, Thomas Jones is a much safer bet than McGahee at this point
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:03 Tom Herrera
1:03
Snyder:
I was actually starting to do some rankings for a draft this weekend where I'm going 10th and it looks like that's a falloff at RB now
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:03 Snyder
1:04
Snyder:
yes, agree .... LOVE Thomas Jones, love him even more now
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:04 Snyder
1:04
Tom Herrera:
Yeah, makes guys like Jamal Lewis and Marshawn Lynch much more valuable, and Jones too
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:04 Tom Herrera
1:04
Snyder:
but he's not really someone to take 10th

Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:04 Tom Herrera

not a lot
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:04 Snyder
1:04
Tom Herrera:
Well, I'm still high on Gore for one
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:04 Tom Herrera
1:04
Snyder:
Gore
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:04 Snyder
1:04
Snyder:
Vernon really thinks he is
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:04 Snyder
1:05
Tom Herrera:
Isaac Bruce will likely be the top receiving threat I'm banking on
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:05 Tom Herrera
1:05
Tom Herrera:
Bryant Johnson never showed us any consistency in Arizona

You think vernon is gonna have a big year
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:05 IREPRWC650
1:05
Tom Herrera:
Yes, actually he will probably turn out to be the most consistent receiving threat out of the group I think
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:05 Tom Herrera
1:05
Tom Herrera:
Gore and Davis the only two you can count on
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:05 Tom Herrera
1:05
[Comment From IREPRWC650IREPRWC650: ]
Also will Alex Smith finally come through for the 49ers
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:05 IREPRWC650
1:05
Snyder:
he said something about being in the company of Kellen Winslow/Antonio Gates/Jason Witten ... and I think that's a joke
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:05 Snyder
1:06
Tom Herrera:
Yeah, he's got a lot to prove
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:06 Tom Herrera
1:06
Snyder:
right now it looks like they are running JT O'Sullivan with the first team O
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:06 Snyder

Like staying on the field
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:06 Tom Herrera

doubt it
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:06 Jared G
1:06

it's only pre-season, but with a first year coordinator that doesn't bode well for their confidence in Smith
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:06 Snyder
1:06
Tom Herrera:
Yeah, absolutely
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:06 Tom Herrera
1:06
Snyder:
and Martz is a homer ... O'Sullivan was with him in DET
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:06 Snyder
1:06
Tom Herrera:
I see a lot of short ones to Gore and Davis
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:06 Tom Herrera

There should be a trade for Smith who do you think would be a good trade
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:07 IREPRWC650
1:07
Snyder:
yeah, they'll be really good in PPR leagues
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:07 Snyder
1:07
Tom Herrera:
Well his stock certainly isn't high enough at this point
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:07 Tom Herrera
1:07
Snyder:
oh jeez, there's not a ton left after the Favre/Pennington deals
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:07 Snyder

beck for sure
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:08 IREPRWC650

Tom Herrera:
I was optimistic about Tedd Ginn Jr,, but not if Pennington is throwing the ball
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:08 Tom Herrera
1:08
Tom Herrera:
I've seen his wet noodle arm enough here in NY
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:08 Tom Herrera
1:08
Snyder:
yeah, not much of an arm there, and a deep threat's value is hurt
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:08 Snyder
1:08
Tom Herrera:
There's been some big early preseason impressions
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:08 Tom Herrera
1:09
Tom Herrera:
Chris Johnson in Tennessee for one
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:09 Tom Herrera
1:09
Snyder:
Mike Hart in Indy
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:09 Snyder
1:09
Tom Herrera:
Felix Jones in Dallas looks like he'll carve out 10-15 touches a game
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:09 Tom Herrera
1:09
Tom Herrera:
Yeah, Mike Hart definitely -- so thin there behind Addai
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:09 Tom Herrera
1:09
Tom Herrera:
I wouldn't read too much into LaMont going nuts for the Pats
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:09 Tom Herrera
1:09
Snyder:
yes, and all the Marion Barber fanfare is getting too big ... people assuming that since Julius Jones is gone Barber's gonna get all the carries are not thinking it through
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:09 Snyder
1:09
Tom Herrera:
Still high on Maroney
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:09 Tom Herrera
1:10
Snyder:
yes, Maroney's gonna take the job by the throat
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:10 Snyder
1:10
Tom Herrera:
Yes, as long as Jones can prove he can break off those big plays, it's gonna be hard to deny him a sizable role
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:10 Tom Herrera
1:10
[Comment From raverave: ]
all Igot say is go RAVENS
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:10 rave

they need the running game to keep the passing game open
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:10 Snyder
1:10
Tom Herrera:
How about DeAngelo Williams in Carolina?
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:10 Tom Herrera
1:10
[Comment From IREPRWC650IREPRWC650: ]
Adrian Peterson (Minessotta) is going to have a break out year in my opinion
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:10 IREPRWC650
1:10
Snyder:
didn't he already?
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:10 Snyder
1:10
Snyder:
but yeah, he's gonna be a monster
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:10 Snyder
1:10
Tom Herrera:
Yeah, he's been lockjob at the No.2 pick in fantasy circles, only very few rankings have him anywhere other than that
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:10 Tom Herrera
1:11
Snyder:
DeAngelo and Stewart in Carolina is going to be very interesting
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:11 Snyder
1:11
Tom Herrera:
Yeah, Williams has been impressive early on --- trying to put any doubts to rest
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:11 Tom Herrera
1:11
Tom Herrera:
but the real season is totally different obviously
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:11 Tom Herrera
1:11

many are high on Stewart, but those have forgotten they were just as high on DeAngelo two years ago

Do you think parker could lose his job for the Steeler
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:11 Jeff
1:11
Snyder:
I don't, actually
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:11 Snyder
1:11
Tom Herrera:
Yes, but not in the short term
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:11 Tom Herrera
1:11
Snyder:
it will be more of a split than anything
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:11 Snyder
1:11
Tom Herrera:
Well, if we're talking next year, maybe
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:11 Tom Herrera
1:12
Tom Herrera:
but yeah, split at the start
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:12 Tom Herrera
1:12
Snyder:
like 20 carries for Fast Willie and 10 for Mendenhall
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:12 Snyder
1:12
Tom Herrera:
Parker still brings a tremendous speed dynamic, Mendenhall should prove to be more versatile with some other things
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:12 Tom Herrera
1:12
[Comment From DarrellDarrell: ]
How about DeSean Jackson in Philly? Could he be a viable No.3 on my FF team?
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:12 Darrell
1:12
Snyder:
though I did see some coaches grumbling about Mendenhall not being as powerful as they had hoped in short yardage situations ... that could change things drastically

Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:12 Snyder
1:12
Snyder:
if it's a larger league, there's a chance
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:12 Snyder
1:13
Tom Herrera:
yeah, good point
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:13 Tom Herrera
1:13
Snyder:
I like Jackson, but rookie wideouts are really fickle
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:13 Snyder
1:13
Tom Herrera:
yes, Eddie Royal in Denver is another one
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:13 Tom Herrera
1:13
Tom Herrera:
small stature, speedy, could carve out a big role
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:13 Tom Herrera
1:13
Snyder:
the Eagles will throw the ball, and Brown and Curtis haven't really been consistent ... McNabb's really missed a huge target since TO left
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:13 Snyder
1:13
Tom Herrera:
but Kevin Curtis and Reggie Brown still going to get looks in Philly
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:13 Tom Herrera
1:13
Tom Herrera:
Curtis is still the best bet
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:13 Tom Herrera

What would you predict for Robert Meachem and Adrian Arrington long term?
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:13 jt
1:13
[Comment From Jared GJared G: ]
I saw some wanna be expert say that Mendenhall was drafted to replace Parker cuz he was old! lol
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:13 Jared G
1:14
Snyder:
I like Meachem, especially in that offense
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:14 Snyder
1:14
Tom Herrera:
Haha -- Parker still got some very fats wheels yet
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:14 Tom Herrera
1:14
Tom Herrera:
And yes, Meachem has to show us something on the real deal, but he was impressive in preseason
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:14 Tom Herrera
1:14
Snyder:
Jared -- the Steelers more want to save his small body from pounding inside
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:14 Snyder

[Comment From Jared GJared G: ]
Rookie wideouts in Philly r especially bad
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:14 Jared G

Yeah, it takes adapting to that system
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:14 Tom Herrera
1:14
[Comment From Jared GJared G: ]
Reggie Brown has shown he's a joke
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:14 Jared G
1:14
Tom Herrera:
He's definitely dropped his fair share of balls
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:14 Tom Herrera
1:14
Snyder:
on the Saints, they've made productive games out of Devery Henderson and Terrance Copper in the past
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:14 Snyder
1:15
Tom Herrera:
He's been given plenty of opportunities
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:15 Tom Herrera
1:15
Snyder:
Meachem's a ton more talented than those guys
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:15 Snyder
1:15
Tom Herrera:
Yeah, Meachem could be one of those WR4/WR5 types that you can use against bad passing defenses when Brees goes nuts
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:15 Tom Herrera
1:15
[Comment From davedave: ]
where do you guys have MBIII
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:15 dave
1:15
Snyder:
Shockey's going to draw attention to the middle now as well, that offense is sick
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:15 Snyder
1:15
Snyder:
I have him 8th
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:15 Snyder
1:15
Snyder:
8th RB, 8th overall
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:15 Snyder
1:16
Tom Herrera:
Yeah, that's about right -- again, Felix Jones is gonna get 10 touches
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:16 Tom Herrera
1:16
Snyder:
Portis 7, Gore 6, and you should know the top five
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:16 Snyder
1:16
Tom Herrera:
Marshawn Lynch / Ryan Grant / Jamal Lewis / Clinton Portis
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:16 Tom Herrera
1:16
Snyder:
you could argue Marshawn for 8th and push Barber back to 9th, but there's a fall off after that at RB, you'd have to get into other positions
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:16 Snyder
1:16
Tom Herrera:
All these guys have no timeshares

Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:16 jt

Tom Herrera:
See, I actually like Clayton a lot
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:16 Tom Herrera
1:17
Snyder:
I don't think so, I just don't think he's ever had a quality QB
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:17 Snyder
1:17
Tom Herrera:
He was seemingly on the cusp of stardom at one point
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:17 Tom Herrera
1:17
Tom Herrera:
But injuries, bad QB, bad offense in general
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:17 Tom Herrera
1:17
Snyder:
and I'm sorry main stream media, Steve McNair wasn't a quality QB
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:17 Snyder
1:17
Tom Herrera:
No he was not, it was 5-yard passes to Clayton and let's see what we can stretch it to

How does the Steve Smith suspension affect his draft stock/rank?
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:17 Dan

Snyder, I'll let you handle Malar
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:17 Tom Herrera
1:17

Malar - I have no idea
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:17 Snyder
1:17

Outstanding question
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:17 Tom Herrera
1:17
Tom Herrera:
haha
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:17 Tom Herrera
1:18
Snyder:
actually, yeah, Dan .... it does hurt it a bit
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:18 Snyder
1:18
Tom Herrera:
I'd be more concerned about the injury
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:18 Tom Herrera
1:18
Tom Herrera:
Is Smith too fragile to rely on?
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:18 Tom Herrera
1:18
Snyder:
BUT, I was able to get him way too late in one league because too many people were scared
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:18 Snyder
1:18
Tom Herrera:
That's the bigger issue
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:18 Tom Herrera
1:18
Tom Herrera:
I'm not concerned as much about the suspension
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:18 Tom Herrera
1:18
Tom Herrera:
But yeah, Snyder is right, he's slipping to a point where he's a solid pick
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:18 Tom Herrera
1:18
[Comment From Jared GJared G: ]
You guys don't actually believe the Brown's will beat out the Steelers in the AFC North, do you? I don't believe that division will be as tight as it's being made out to be. I still see the NFC East as the tightest division.
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:18 Jared G
1:18
Snyder:
think of him as having three bye weeks, so you just need extra reserves .... as for the injury, if you draft like I said, you'll have the guy ready to step in
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:18 Snyder
1:18
Snyder:
Lee Evans was my "extra" guy, for example
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:18 Snyder
1:19
Snyder:
so then you have a quality option (sometimes with Lee) to step in should he get injured and for the "three" bye weeks
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:19 Snyder
1:19
Snyder:
Jared - not even close
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:19 Snyder

NFC East top to bottom could be two games
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:19 Snyder

I wouldn't take a flier on Jones right away, but keep an eye on him
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:19 Tom Herrera

Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:20 Jeff
1:20
Snyder:
yeah, he keeps you from taking Forte as a top 20 back ... and the line is in shambles
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:20 Snyder
1:20
Snyder:
no, he's not top 5
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:20 Snyder

Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:20 Snyder

I'd say Johnson is top 15, but not top 5
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:20 Tom Herrera
1:20
Tom Herrera:
I have him at 11
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:20 Tom Herrera

as I wrote a few days ago, Johnson only scored a TD in four different games
Wednesday August 13, 2008 1:20 Snyder

So I have the first overall pick an odd scoring league. its standard ppr scoring, except for QBs. For QBs its 1 point per completion, 6 points per TD, 1 point for ever 20 yards passing. On top of that, the league pays out to the team with the best player every week. I've never seen a position other than QB take the cash. So, with the first over all pick, do I go LT or a QB?
