Ryan, what would you consider your main strengths as a goalkeeper?
Monday January 23, 2012 3:02 Matt
3:02
RM: "Being a big keeper, I think I have a pretty good presence in the box. I like to communicate a lot and organize the guys in front of me and I try to prevent situations and problems before they occur."

Hey Ryan. I'm at work risking my a$$ just because I'm so excited to have you as a red bull. My question is do you think this is appropriate for your fans to do?

Which player did you look up to growing up?
Monday January 23, 2012 3:04 Navdeep

RM: "Definitely Tim Howard. When I first started getting into soccer and playing in goal, Tim Howard was just coming up with the MetroStars so I really started following him and in the process became a huge fan of his as well."

Monday January 23, 2012 3:05 Bob Saggot

RM: "The last game of the season in college this year vs. Temple. We knew if we won we'd win the league. I was pretty busy in goal but myself and the defense played really well and kept the shutout. As for worst game, any game I give up a goal."

What do you think of Todd Hoffard, the Red Bulls' GK coach?
Monday January 23, 2012 3:05 Peter
3:06
RM: "So far it's been great. He seems like a good guy, really knows his stuff and he's just really enthusiastic about training and that's definitely wears off on the keeper. He enjoys it and it creates a good atmosphere amongst the keepers."

Ryan what are some major differences between the college to the professional game?
Monday January 23, 2012 3:06 john
3:07
RM: "Well, firstly just the longer season. College is probably three to four month season and this, the MLS preseason, is about two months. So you're basically going from January, February through December. So that'll be an adjustment. And also the speed of play, playing with guys all over the world. I'm just going to have to be really sharp in everything I do."

How did it feel to be selected by a team right in your own back yard? Is it something you expected?
Monday January 23, 2012 3:08 Matt
3:08
RM: "I was hoping for it. I didn't want to get my hopes up too much because wherever I would've been drafted I would've been happy. but it really is a dream come true to play for a team I supported and it's great with my family and friends to be close to home so they can come out to games. My family is only about a half hour trip from here in Yonkers, so it couldn't have worked out better for me."

Hi Ryan, it must be a fantastic feeling going from a fan to a player for the team. Watching the games and of the previous goalkeeping situations, do you have an understanding of what this team really need from you?
Monday January 23, 2012 3:09 Shurado
3:10
RM: "Right now I guess we're only a week or so in. I know they went through a bunch of keepers last year so it seems like they would need someone to come in and just make the position theirs. But my goal is to just take it one day at a time, try and improve every training session and only good things can happen if I do that."

Who do you think is the best goalkeeper in MLS right now?
Monday January 23, 2012 3:11 Bertie Bigs
3:11
RM: "I'd say last year probably Keller. Every time I saw Seattle play he just seemed very solid. Never made any mistakes and he was always consistent and made huge saves to keep Seattle in the game."

[Comment From BobBob: ]
what steps did you take to be a professional soccer player?
Monday January 23, 2012 3:11 Bob
3:12
RM: "Probably when I was a sophomore or junior in high school I realized soccer is what I wanted to do, so I trained really hard and worked really hard to work in college. From there, pretty much the same thing in college, by my sophomore or junior year I realized I might have a chance to play at the professional level. but mainly it's just about being dedicated and trying to get the most out of yourself to maximize your potential."

With so much coverage of soccer on TV in the United States today, what do you think about MLS being broadcast on NBC and yesterday's Super Sunday being broadcast on Fox? Do you think that this will make a difference to the attention the sport gets in the US?
Monday January 23, 2012 3:13 After Extra Time
3:14
RM: "I think it's great for the league. I know when I was young, growing up, there weren't too many games on TV. Maybe one game a week or so. It can only help get the League more exposure and in the long run, the more games you can get on TV, the better off the league can be and continue to grow like it has."

What do you expect your role to be in the club this year?
Monday January 23, 2012 3:14 7e7
3:15
RM: "To tell you the truth I'm not too sure yet. We're only a week in. I know the position seems open for competition, the No. 1 spot. So I just plan on competing for that and even if I don't end up getting it, just trying to push the No. 1 and keep the competition. When there's competition I think it benefits everyone and keeps everyone sharp."

How challenging do you think it will be playing against the professional players who aare highly experienced
Monday January 23, 2012 3:19 Guest
3:20
RM: "Definitely a big challenge for any rookie I think. All these guys, they've been through it all before, whereas this is all new to any rookie or the younger guys. but at the same time I think you can learn a lot from then, seeing how they handle themselves off and on the field. Take any advice they're willing to give you."
