KJ bricked that free throw, didn't he? Opened the door, but then, Wisconsin never got a good shot at the end. Dion's defense closed that off. Who ever thought Dion would make a defensive play like that to seal the game?

Huge stats for Syracuse - only six turnovers and held serve with Wisconsin on the boards (23-23). That proved huge in negating Badger 3-point insanity.

WOW..what a great game....Both teams played great and it came down to the last shot. Both teams shot great and su played great defense but You have to tip your hat to wisconsin they hit 14 3 pointers with Su players right in their face...Def one of the best games to watch of the year. I was coming out of my shoes haha...Su moves on but Wisconsin should hold their heads high because they played a great game.

You have to be a great team to beat a Wisconsin team that could shoot the lights out like the Badgers did. Great rebounding and resilience too. Lastly: glad this team distinguishes itself by reaching Elite Eight, which hasn't happened often under Coach B.

Syracuse shot well (55 percent), rebounded well (held serve), defended pretty well, had just six turnovers and had much of it negated by one thing - Wisconsin's 3-point shooting; Badgers got nine more points than Syracuse from the 3-point line

Man that was close! If Bruesewitz had jumped a split second later he would have had an easy alley-oop. Tough draw Saturday - Cincy who knows us and beat us, or Ohio St. It would be nice to get a rubber match against Cincy on a neutral court. But Ohio St would draw a lot more media attention. Who would you rather play next?

Some Badgers comments over at CBSsports.com: Future-Fate March 22, 2012 9:57 pm Badgers decided to play their worst defensive game of the entire season. Cuse is beyond lucky to come out of this one alive.

TrollyMcTroller March 22, 2012 10:01 pmFor a team that is supposed to be super effecient per possession, that was one of the worst possessions I've seen in a while at the end of that game.

ThaBadge March 22, 2012 10:04 pmThere is no reason to call a timeout at the end. They would have run the exact same set out of a timeout, except with less time to set it up.We weren't able to create shots off the dribble all night except once or twice from Taylor. We needed him to make a move at the end, but the Cuse defense was as stout as ever. Syracuse played just a bit better and snuck out with the win

Nick, Sullinger is a beast for sure. But, we can attack boards as a team against him and also we can do a good job of making it tough for their guards to get it to him by being active in zone and trapping in corners. All in all they are a better matchup for our type of game, just IMO.

DeShaun Thomas is the guy we need to worry about. Not Sullinger.

Thing is, Wisc made a lot of LONG 3s and tough ones too. With our relatively weak man defense they would probably have seen even better looks from distance. I'm fine with the zone. In fact, it tends to be to our advantage.

Blaze, I agree with that 100%. Sullinger will get his put backs and boards, but Thomas can hurt us the most.

NickT, Wisc had to pick their poison. They just don't have the athletes to guard everyone we have. The poison they picked was CJ... to their own peril. Nice to have the real CJ Fair back!!!!!!!!!!!

Did Louisville wear orange uniforms tonight? Also, Ohio State ranks 12th nationally in FG percentage at 48.6 percent. Sullinger and Thomas are both over 53 percent shooting from the field.

Wisconsin was 14-of-27 (52%) from 3-point range. The Badgers were just 7-of-22 (32%) from INSIDE the 3-point arc.

I'm hoping Kris comes on more on Saturday. We'll need all of it. He HAS been good on defense though, always in the right position and such.

Chris Joseph needs to attack the basket that's where he is most dangerous, but he does have to watch out for the charging calls

Donnie, teams tend to shoot a lower 3-pt % against us than they average... so I'm loving that 32.9% number!! :-)

For those of you not watching it, Ohio State is leading Cincy 37-25 at the half
Thursday March 22, 2012 10:44

Marquette and Florida are tied at 17 with about 10 minutes left in the first half; that kind of pace probably favors Marquette

There was all this talk about the Big East being over rated this year and i think the top 5-6 teams were as good as anyone in the country. Actually how good was the SEC this year other than Kentucky

The SEC is always Kentucky and everyone else (except for the years Florida won its titles); Vanderbilt was good and beat Kentucky in the SEC tournament, Gators are still playing; Alabama was robbed (but not really). Every time I've watched Kentucky, I'm flabbergasted by its talent; they're at another level (and that includes Syracuse); it's all about how they handle the pressure and whether anyone can make them get into their bench

OK gang, thanks for hanging out with us tonight. We will be back Saturday, whenever that game is. Mike Waters and Donna Ditota will again be providing live updates during the game, and we'll do another post-game Q&A.

Don't forget to check out all the coverage from Mike, Donna and Bud Poliquin in The Post-Standard on Syracuse.com tonight and all through the tournament.

Have a great night, everyone, and we'll see you Saturday.
