Steve:
Hey everyone...we're sitting here behind Neil Cavuto as he anchors his FBN show. I'll start: Greta -- what is your takeaway from the Conventoin so far?
Tuesday August 26, 2008 4:31 Steve
4:32
Greta Van Susteren:

The convention is interesting but very scripted -- both parties have these conventions scripted - so it is hard to gather news and I enjoy gathering news rather than simply talking about it. ...so yes, I find it fascinating but it is a different type of coverage than what I enjoy most about this business.

I'm stationed overseas and watch FOX NEW on AFN. What is your reaction to the protesters that attached FOX news?
Tuesday August 26, 2008 4:32 Damian
4:34
Greta Van Susteren:
First, I believe strongly in the First Amendment -- even if the exercise of it is against me....and second, I think it important that we have a dialogue about issues...so...I may be one of the few who appreicates protests provided no one is hurt...as an aside, I confess to getting a bit annoyed when a protest ties up traffic and I am driving but in balance, i think protests are important right.

Hi Greta. What is the buzz about Sen. Clinton among delegates and on the streets at the convention? (Love your GretaWire webcam)

Greta Van Susteren:
I was in an elevator traveling more than 25 floors last night...it was filled with delegates who I did not know...as soon as the last man got out, and there were a few women left in it wearing obama buttons etc, they let loose -- they all told me how mad they are about the dissing of Sen Clinton...I think there is more upset among women than is publicly acknowledged...but in no way is an elevator ride a scientific study!

Greta, if "Hurricane Gustav" turns out to be as big as some predict (Cat 3-4), how do you think that will affect the coverage of the Republican convention?

4:36
Greta Van Susteren:
I expect to be on the first plane to the hurricane.

I've been glued to the "Strategy Room" live stream. Is there any sense of how many internet users are logging on and being part of it? I hope FOX continues with it. I have learned a great deal. Thanks

Greta Van Susteren:

As you might know, I am a giant fan of the internet and streaming...we have had an internet show -- GretaLiveWire - for almost a year at 9:45pm eastern..followed by our tv news show ON THE RECORD at 10pm...as for how many ? I was likewise curious and asked and was given some answer about the use of bandwidth and how excited the people at Fox News.com is about the use..somehow that means something to the number of people who are watching but I have not a clue...I do it because I love doing the internet shows and when the Fox News.Com asked me about hosting the Strategy Room I jumped at it...I also have  a webcam on during the convention which shows you how much I like the internet

AS a Democrat, do you ever get into shouting matches with coworkers, like some networks personalities do.

[Comment From SiobhanSiobhan: ]
Has the media in general been sexist in its coverage of Sen. Clinton throughout the election season, or do you think the media in general even "gets" the issue?
Tuesday August 26, 2008 4:39 Siobhan
4:41
Greta Van Susteren:
Yes, the media has been unfair to Senator Clinton -- and what surprises me more is when the ones being sexist (talking more about her hair and clothes than her record) are women....go figure....

I know you have covered this question before, but what are the differences between CNN and FOXNEWS. Could you have been in Denver right now if at CNN?
Tuesday August 26, 2008 4:41 Joe Luke
4:44
Greta Van Susteren:
I went to the conventions when I was at CNN...what is the main difference for me between the two networks is the corporate structure..when I left CNN, it had just been taken over by AOL and it was a nightmare....the corporate nature of journalism is not fun...I loved working for Ted Turner (Ted  is adventurous)  but they pushed him out...I love Fox because Roger Ailes is much like Ted   Turner -- he is in charge, is adventurous  and gives us the tools to do our job...when I have a question, I can go to Roger...I don't have to go to some corporate committee..

Has Fox News been received politely at the convention by the attendees?

Yes

Greta Van Susteren:
one other thing...remember, many   democratic convention attendees think that fox was fair to Senator Clinton and that the other two cable networks were not...so these people seem to be particularly friendly

it looked like some of the caylee anthony coverage you guys shot a few weeks ago was shot on some kind of consumer handycam or something. What did you use and why not use pro cameras?
Tuesday August 26, 2008 4:45 TED
4:47
Greta Van Susteren:
We have essentially 4 cameras -- the professional, the semi professional and mine (mine are a sanyo xacti and a flip camera.)   We used the professional when we could plan interviews etc...and we used mine when we stumbled upon something that we did not expect....I like the handycam look, too..it seems real --not packaged and edited but raw

Other than Fox News, and TVNewser, what news sources do you read daily?
Tuesday August 26, 2008 4:49 Peter H

Greta Van Susteren:
Yes, I read tvnewser and they can credit me with about 15 hits a day....i read newspapers: ny times, wall street journal, chicago tribune, la times, appleton post crescent (this surprises you no doubt), random regional papers etc...and i read drudgereport (he can credit me with 3 hits a day at least)...of course our fox news.com website (they REALLY owe me for all the hits)...and a blogger named Alec Wasserman who I have never met sends me about 25 news items a day!!

Greta, would you rather be covering the convention from the floor with all the delegates than in a booth or remote location? Love On The Record - best show in cable news!!

Are you still keeping up on any new developments in the Caylee Anthony story? I haven't heard or read much about it lately. Obviously, the convention is the big story right now. Any updates?
Tuesday August 26, 2008 4:55 Tim Wheeler
4:58
Greta Van Susteren:
Yes..I am following the story even while here in Denver....stories that I have spent time on continue to interest me..I don't just drop them when I move on to other stories..by the way, here is a hint: I have something coming up on Natalee Holloway and don't ask me anymore since I won't tell you..but I don't just drop stories because I move on...if you notice, I was staying on a bus in New Orleans in the aftermath of Katrina and I made several trips back there long after things started to dry up...I think i was there this spring with President Clinton...I get my months a bit mixed up since I am so much on the road...I just got back from North Korea 3 weeks ago and while you may think I have moved on, I have not...every day I check to see what is going on in North Korea...so..the short answer is: I am still following and there are no updates other than an Orlando Sentinel article today that Casey did not want a child...ugh
