I actually hear that from a lot of creators...
Saturday August 23, 2008 1:14 Strommy
1:14
Twyst:

Saturday August 23, 2008 1:16 Twyst
1:17
Strommy:
Zalanth--there actually is a Marvel office in London, I believe. I don't  think they do much in the way of original content--nor do I know if they do internships or the like--but it's something to check in to.
Saturday August 23, 2008 1:17 Strommy
1:17
Twyst:

Agent M:
Guest: a fair reporter would be someone who works for a third party site (IGN, CBR, Wizard, etc.) and doesn't inject opionion into their coverage of comics when doing news. right, no butt kissing, etc.

Ian; people ask for critiques, but they dont really want them, they just want to know who to meet.   Be prepared to be critiqued.   You can always learn more
Saturday August 23, 2008 1:40 Twyst
1:41
Twyst:
Dan: When you do get criticism, take it, and fix it.   Do not resubmit the same thing.   That is magic, if an editor told you to change something,a nd you do.
Saturday August 23, 2008 1:41 Twyst
1:41
Twyst:
CB: people try and explain why they did whatever it was, but think of the critiques as education.   Ppl that impress the most, the ppl that take nots on what they say

Understand why you got the notes that you did, wether you agree or not
Saturday August 23, 2008 1:43 Twyst
1:44
Twyst:
Understanding why the editor made the notes they did.   Dont look at it like a job interivew.   It is __ amnt of time with that editor, it is a little class
Saturday August 23, 2008 1:44 Twyst
1:44
Twyst:
CB: same with writers, when you send in scripts you get notes back, and you can get crushed.   But you have to take the time to understand their POV
Saturday August 23, 2008 1:44 Twyst
1:45
Twyst:
Dan; every editor it like a company you have to break in to
Saturday August 23, 2008 1:45 Twyst
1:45
Twyst:
you get used to working with different people.   Different editors work in different offices, know who you are pitching to.
Saturday August 23, 2008 1:45 Twyst
1:46
Twyst:
Dont pitch creator owned to marvel, dont pitch superhero to say, Dark Horse

Also, look  at the books  an editor works on  and you might get a feel for their individual taste, and  who might be most receptive to the idea you have.
Saturday August 23, 2008 1:47 Strommy

no one wants to write your story, cuz it's YOURS not theirs.
