Alright, people .... less than a month until many fantasy football drafts, what's on your mind?

Monday July 21, 2008 12:59 Snyder

Besides me repping Fleaflicker at tonight's Mock Draft Central expert draft?

Snyder:
well, not necessarily
Monday July 21, 2008 1:00 Snyder

aren't you picking second and NOT taking Peterson?
Monday July 21, 2008 1:00 Snyder

That would be correct.

I don't think Westbrook is obvious
Monday July 21, 2008 1:00 Snyder

Addai is three for me. But yes, certainly Westbrook has made a convincing argument
Monday July 21, 2008 1:01 Brinson

Snyder:
LDT, Peterson, Addai
Monday July 21, 2008 1:01 Snyder

is this is PPR league? If so, I can see the argument for Westbrook

[Comment From RickRick: ]
you can admit it gets cloudy after the 1st 5 RBs though
Monday July 21, 2008 1:02 Rick
1:02
Brinson:
I just think it's funny that a guy who is so supremely undervalued for so long -- because he's "injury prone" -- suddenly becomes "consistent" enough for the third overall pick.
Monday July 21, 2008 1:02 Brinson
1:02
Snyder:
absolutely, though Gore and Portis aren't bad choices
Monday July 21, 2008 1:02 Snyder

I am in a 3 keeper 8 team fleaflicker league...2 questions Should I keep Colston or fitzgerald ...and # 2 I have 3rd pick...My estimates Brees and Rothisberger will be avail...which one do i pick?
Monday July 21, 2008 1:02 Andrew
1:02
[Comment From RickRick: ]
agreed
Monday July 21, 2008 1:02 Rick
1:02
Snyder:
Fitzgerald, and I'd rather have Brees
Monday July 21, 2008 1:02 Snyder
1:03
Snyder:
both of those choices are close, though
Monday July 21, 2008 1:03 Snyder
1:03
Snyder:
Big Ben's coming off a career year, and Brinson doesn't think you should pay for last year's stats
Monday July 21, 2008 1:03 Snyder
1:03
Brinson:
I think it's "cloudy" after the first three picks -- LT and Addai are the only locks for me and I think you have to take Peterson if he's there, obviously.

But Gore, Jackson, Westbrook, Portis all make compelling arguments for why you should take them between 4-7.
Monday July 21, 2008 1:03 Brinson
1:03
Brinson:
Oh, and CHOWDA.
Monday July 21, 2008 1:03 Brinson
1:04
Brinson:
On R-Burger, I think he'll be very good; it just depends on what the level of talent at QB is availabe versus the RB and WR talent.
Monday July 21, 2008 1:04 Brinson
1:04
Snyder:
I love Brees coming in this year, though ... he started so poorly last year and the Saints finally made an adjustment ... plus Deuce will hopefully be back to stabilize things
Monday July 21, 2008 1:04 Snyder
1:05
[Comment From AndrewAndrew: ]
Is it worth keeping a Defense ... I have San Diego ...and not keep fitz
Monday July 21, 2008 1:05 Andrew
1:05
Snyder:
no
Monday July 21, 2008 1:05 Snyder
1:05
Brinson:
For instance, I would rather have Jonathan Stewart or someone there, if it's the fourth round and it's a keeper league, or say McFadden perhaps, especially if I thought I could get a QB later in the draft that would be better value.
Monday July 21, 2008 1:05 Brinson
1:05
Brinson:
No, don't keep a defense.
Monday July 21, 2008 1:05 Brinson

Monday July 21, 2008 1:06 afunk
1:06
[Comment From RickRick: ]
any thoughts on Reggie Bush (not as a 1st rounder obviously)?
Monday July 21, 2008 1:06 Rick
1:06
Snyder:
JaMarcus Russell, for example, is probably dirt cheap in a keeper league
Monday July 21, 2008 1:06 Snyder
1:06
Snyder:
it depends on the make-up of your league, afunk, but I really doubt it
Monday July 21, 2008 1:06 Snyder
1:07
Snyder:
he's still got that name value to many fans ... but yes, if you got him late it could turn into a sleeper-type pick with his receiving abilities
Monday July 21, 2008 1:07 Snyder
1:07
Brinson:
FWIW, I hate Reggie Bush. Won't draft him. But if he falls far enough, and I think it has to be the middle of the second round at least, then he's undervalued, I suppose.

Simply because of the catches he can provide. And his upside. While he's not a great BTT runner he does still have the tools to be good, if the Saints use him correctly.
Monday July 21, 2008 1:07 Brinson
1:07
Brinson:
But I'm not dropping a first or second rounder on him myself.
Monday July 21, 2008 1:07 Brinson
1:07
Snyder:
me neither ... but if we spread the word enough maybe he'll start falling to the 4th or 5th, in which case I'd take him
Monday July 21, 2008 1:07 Snyder
1:08
[Comment From AndrewAndrew: ]
You think i should go reciever with 3rd pick and get QB with #14 pick
Monday July 21, 2008 1:08 Andrew
1:08
Snyder:
there's a much better selection of viable starting QBs than elite WRs, so yes, I would take a WR first
Monday July 21, 2008 1:08 Snyder
1:08
Snyder:
think about the Bulger/Garrard/Rivers types

Monday July 21, 2008 1:08 Snyder
1:08
Brinson:
Well, if we're talking keeper, it depends on how many QBs v. WRs got kept, relatively.
Monday July 21, 2008 1:08 Brinson
1:09
Snyder:
oh, oops, I forgot Andrew was still talking keeper
Monday July 21, 2008 1:09 Snyder
1:09
Brinson:
If you've got an elite WR option at three I would take that and then gamble on getting a QB later.
Monday July 21, 2008 1:09 Brinson
1:09
Snyder:
yeah, that's a tough one to answer
Monday July 21, 2008 1:09 Snyder

Ronnie Brown hasn't always seemed to need a ton of time to recover from injuries, so he'll be ready to go quite quickly, but I am finding it funny how much everyone's been reporting that Ricky looks like a stud in camp
Monday July 21, 2008 1:11 Snyder

ricky williams will probably not be drafted in most leagues unless ronnie brown has a meltdown
Monday July 21, 2008 1:11 dude
1:12
Brinson:
I see Ricky as an 8th/9th rounder, but that portion of the draft is generally spent for me picking up QBs.

And I'm high on Brown -- he's way down in drafts, he performed well last year despite the shoddy Dolphins team and I think he'll be recovered. Plus, Ricky hanging around will hurt his status in fantasy leagues.

Monday July 21, 2008 1:13 afunk

Brinson:
I think that I would take him in the late second or third round, depending on how my draft went. If it's RB heavy, I think that's right, but if people are yanking QBs and WRs off the board (which I love because you can stock up on RBs) then maybe I wait.

Agree on before Bush though.

[Comment From Bill BraskyBill Brasky: ]
ricky's on field play has never been a problem, and with Ronnie being hurt and the offensive line being beefed up he's worth a flier
Monday July 21, 2008 1:13 Bill Brasky
1:14
Snyder:
I do think those guys I mentioned above are going to be held to a much higher value on draft day than Brown, so he's much more of a steal candidate .... just don't take him before because those guys are obviously more of a sure thing
Monday July 21, 2008 1:14 Snyder
1:14
Brinson:
He's worth a flier but I don't know about 8th/9th, whcih is where you'll have to take him.

He was great on the field before, but how good of shape is he in. Also, I would venture that he gets some run in preseason, looks good and his fantasy status shoots up towards the 5th/6th.
