It's a mental victory for SD. They didn't need to fall far behind early, and now they have a tiny lead. They can build on that. NE is too professional to let this get them down, but they might get discouraged if SD gets the next big play (turnover or score).

Yeah, he's fast and has talent returning the ball, but how many times were we gonna let him fumble? All Fumbles are bad, but I don't think it gets any worse than fumbling a punt/kickoff, that's a huge momentum swing. I think he muffed a punt all 4 games he played in this year, then fair caught most of the rest of them. He's a great talent, but I remember getting fed up with all his mental mistakes early on. Martinez hasn't been amazing, but even he didn't screw up as much.
