Rivers won't be a factor with the injury. The injury should be complicated by the bad weather. NE should have a field day going after him.

Tough call for SD. You have to play your best guy, no matter how badly injured, once you have gotten this far in the season. It's all or nothing.

Starting to look like a defensive struggle. The cold might just slow down the athletes enough, and make the ball heavy to throw. NE is clearly the superior team, but the elements favor SD.

Not that it's relevant for this site, but there are two players that were Jags last season on the Patriots: TE Kyle Brady, who's a tremendous blocker and P Chris Hanson. You don't hear a lot about the Other Brady, but Belichick loves him for his blocking.

It's a mental victory for SD. They didn't need to fall far behind early, and now they have a tiny lead. They can build on that. NE is too professional to let this get them down, but they might get discouraged if SD gets the next big play (turnover or score).

Think Asante is worth all the money he's going to get in FA? Jacksonville has 30+ million in cap space and will probably make Dan Snyder blush this offseason in spending.
Sunday January 20, 2008 4:49 Big Cat Country
4:50
I don't...
I think the Pats will do the same thing with him they did with Branch
Sunday January 20, 2008 4:50
4:50
Even if he leaves in FA, the Pats will likely get a sandwich pick in the draft, probably at the end of the 3rd round, and Samuel was a third round pick, I believe....
Sunday January 20, 2008 4:50
4:51
Pats get the ball to start the half....Huge possession for both teams...
Sunday January 20, 2008 4:51

Yeah, he's fast and has talent returning the ball, but how many times were we gonna let him fumble? All Fumbles are bad, but I don't think it gets any worse than fumbling a punt/kickoff, that's a huge momentum swing. I think he muffed a punt all 4 games he played in this year, then fair caught most of the rest of them. He's a great talent, but I remember getting fed up with all his mental mistakes early on. Martinez hasn't been amazing, but even he didn't screw up as much.

I agree with you...at this point, I want to see perfection...just to say I saw it. The last time, being three and all...I don't remember it all that well.

I really don't think Fav-re will...most of the rest of team is pretty young, the NFC blows, for the most part...he can probably get back to the bowl. "Them 'boys" are the most competition he will have next year...
