5:22

The AFL today announced its decision to impose a suspended sanction of $5000 on Sydney Swans coach Paul Roos for his remarks to an AFL Interchange Steward during the course of last week’s round 21 match against Collingwood at the MCG. The suspended sanction will be in place until the end of the 2010 season.

Roos abused the interchange steward after a free kick was correctly awarded against the Swans for breaching the rules regarding interchange procedures during the fourth quarter.

Good point Noah. I think whatever happens, Hawthorn has to prepare its team to play with or without Buddy. Then the team structure can hold up without Buddy. I think they have the capacity to beat Essendon ... but how badly do the Hawks want to make the finals? If Hawthorn wins, they will be the hungrier team.

The AFL appeals board has dismissed the challenge by Hawthorn forward Lance Franklin against his two-match ban.

After a hearing lasting nearly two-and-a-half hours, the three-man panel took just five minutes to rule on the appeal.

It means Franklin will miss Saturday's crucial match against Essendon, with the winner to take eighth spot for the finals.
