Ducks, NCAA men's basketball tournament -- Adam Jude will be chatting about them at noon

Ok. I have to say I was not happy with the selection committee. But, I am happy we are in and it was not a bad place for Oregon to start playing at and who. Though I think the Midwest is the hardest of all the regionals to play in

Midwest does look mighty dangerous. Obviously, the 12 seed was a shock. Ducks were a natural 11 but had to be moved down to make things work, apparently. ...

That said, San Jose was the best-case scenario for location, and the Ducks got a break there. Perhaps about the same as getting, say, a No. 7 seed in Salt Lake City (or, worse, Philadelphia).

Monday March 18, 2013 12:04 Guest

Adam Jude:
Well, there were very, very few Ducks fans in Las Vegas. And the Ducks did pretty well there. But it should only help the Ducks if there's a strong UO contingent there on Thursday -- which I expect there will be.

Guard-heaving? Love it.

I was looking at the numbers, and OSU and the Ducks shoot about the same from three-point range -- which is not very good. About 31 percent.

Adam Jude:
Oregon obviously got hot vs. UCLA in the first half (going 7 of 9 on threes), but the Ducks are best when they shoot just 10-12 threes a game. The fewer the better, usually.

I actually haven't had a chance to fill out a bracket yet to see what the potential matchups might be. I liked Louisville at the beginning of the season ... and it looks like the Cardinal are playing their best now. Not a bad pick, but not necessarily locked into that choice right now.

I think losing at Colorado and Utah might've helped the Ducks, actually. They knew they blew a golden chance to win the Pac-12 regular season. They had to regroup, refocus -- and they did. And they did so very well.

If Oregon had lost to UW in the PAC 12 tourney, do they not go to the dance? I'm thinking their 12 seeding after winning is indicative of the committee's attitude towards them and the PAC 12.

I'd expect the Ducks to throw Artis, Dotson, Singler and Emory at Smart. Or maybe they'll play a lot of zone. We'll have to see what they say this week (though I'm sure they won't reveal much).

The Ducks are a confident group right now, as they should be. I'd give the Cowboys a slight edge right now, but the Ducks have been in virtually every game this season, thanks in large part to their defense. It should be another close one.

Smart's too fast for Singler one-on-one for a whole game, but I assume Singler will be part of the defensive plan with Smart. It'll need to be a team effort, though. Smart is a legit All-American candidate.

Ducks#1: As far as next season, the Ducks do take a big hit with these four seniors leaving. HUGE hit. But Altman has a way of bringing in guys who seem to be able to play right away, and JC transfer Elgin Cook looks like he can fill up Emory's role, at the least, right away.

From the buzz I've heard, it sounds the Ducks have a chance with Aaron Gordon. Perhaps a good chance. I was told Altman watched him play (in Bay Area) the night before the P12 tourney started last week.

12:28
Adam Jude:
Hoosierduck: I think Dotson has been good in stretches on defense. Typically tough for a freshman to keep up that focus and intensity all game, but he seems to relish the challenge of another top scorer. And he seems to love the trash talk and the back and forth.
