That said, San Jose was the best-case scenario for location, and the Ducks got a break there. Perhaps about the same as getting, say, a No. 7 seed in Salt Lake City (or, worse, Philadelphia).

Well, there were very, very few Ducks fans in Las Vegas. And the Ducks did pretty well there. But it should only help the Ducks if there's a strong UO contingent there on Thursday -- which I expect there will be.

Oregon obviously got hot vs. UCLA in the first half (going 7 of 9 on threes), but the Ducks are best when they shoot just 10-12 threes a game. The fewer the better, usually.

I actually haven't had a chance to fill out a bracket yet to see what the potential matchups might be. I liked Louisville at the beginning of the season ... and it looks like the Cardinal are playing their best now. Not a bad pick, but not necessarily locked into that choice right now.

Smart's too fast for Singler one-on-one for a whole game, but I assume Singler will be part of the defensive plan with Smart. It'll need to be a team effort, though. Smart is a legit All-American candidate.

Ducks#1: As far as next season, the Ducks do take a big hit with these four seniors leaving. HUGE hit. But Altman has a way of bringing in guys who seem to be able to play right away, and JC transfer Elgin Cook looks like he can fill up Emory's role, at the least, right away.

In regards to Dotson, He has always been huge to our success. I do think he is ran incredible defender and does not get the proper recognition for it. He was huge defensively at the PAC tourney on some good players.

Hoosierduck: I think Dotson has been good in stretches on defense. Typically tough for a freshman to keep up that focus and intensity all game, but he seems to relish the challenge of another top scorer. And he seems to love the trash talk and the back and forth.
