Welcome to the DEN Second Life session.   It may be a risky thing to try to blog live and learn how to fly, teleport, or even just walk in SL, but I am going to give it a try.

Nancy created a SL video about the DEN Super Guide(s)--unbelievably and undeniably the most interesting film I have ever seen.   AWESOME!   Before this workshop is over, Lost Teacher in the haystack becomes Magic Teacher in Second Life.

Email bknittle@gmail.com if you want to become a DEN SL Guide.   I was so impressed with this video; I would have trouble making it in real life, not to mention in Second Life.   Riptide told us that we can use SL to host LC meetings; there are also weekly workshops every Wednesday.   The weekly presentations are not necessarily DEN driven, but rather moderated by things the SL members have worked on in/out of the classroom.

SL allow you to present outside of your normal level/mode.   Participating in SL and presenting allows you to claim credit for STAR status.   Gentle reminders are given each Sunday night and agendas and prior week's learning is presented on the DEN SL blog.   You should join the DEN SL group; you should also join the Google SL group.

Learning from Riptide in real and SL time was exciting.   I am experiencing lag, probably because I am not hard wired, and likely because SL demands the highest end of performance for a new computer.   Mine is almost 4 years old, so I need to get my MAC to work.   Good to know that multiple tabs open on Firefox and I shouldn't be working on a back channel hosting either.   A learning curve always.   I just love SL as far as I've been.   Laelia Laval teleported me out of the Orientation Island, so I am ready to fly.

Whether it's machine or high use on SL, some of us had trouble with machines freezing.   Watching people who did succeed in getting to the The Free Dove had fun, but midway in the presentation, many of us froze.   Still, I am so glad that I got this far in the experience and will continue to discover and build my presence in SL by joining the DEN group.   I can see the social benefit from SL, but I will have to become more proficient and move beyond "Barbie" to find the educational applicability.

Christy Flannagan, in real life, Christy King, built a home.   David Warlick and Hall Davidson have property/space in SL and have notecards and websites.   What I love about SL is the ability to connect differently, and when I can work faster, I am really going to love this application.

Many thanks to our DEN SL guides who helped us with this great adventure.
