AK- Anyway, my take on the trade? In a nutshell, fantastic move. When I heard rumors about this a week ago, it included Kemp, maybe others guys and I didn't like it. The Dodgers are more than "one player" away, and to trade away promising guys (not to mention take them out of the lineup) for someone who could very well end up a rental made no sense to me.

AK - But this version, however, is fantastic. They gave up a prospect (LaRoche) they were looking to possibly move anyway and another pitcher a while from contributing. Plus, this team has plenty of young pitching. They're not even paying the bill. From where I sit, I can't see ANY downside.

The Kevin Brown contract, although much maligned, continues to benefit the Dodgers. The Dodgers had Brown for 3.5 (out of 5) great seasons, then dumped him to the Yankees for Brzoban, Weeden, and 2 good seasons of Jeff Weaver. When Weaver The Elder signed with the Angels, the compensatory draft picks were Preston Mattingly and Bryan Morris. Morris was included in the trade today for Manny. See, the Kevin Brown deal wasn't that bad after all! :D

I'll explain the hero. You see Kwame "hands of stone" Brown was a bad basketball player, kinda like Jones in baseball. However he was traded to Memphis to get Pau Gasol, so he is a hero. Now only if we had a baseball equvilent of Memphis.
