We're lucky to win this one. Why can't Syracuse shoot any more? Gawd, this team has gotten awful the last few games....

I suppose y'all are in shock at the moment for how bad this team played for long, long stretches.

The entire team looked flat and lifeless; are they just going through the motions w/o Fab and do they have a shot against a decent K State team?

Syracuse is pushed, but moves on with a 72-65 win against UNC Asheville.

Obvious first question to everyone ... how do you feel about the next game against Kansas State?

had to watch a score tracker on the computer. Many people were complaining that the refs were hurting UNC Ashville. Is this true, or just sour grapes from Ashville fans and the pro-Cinderella crowd?

5:47
Hang on a second - I think Syracuse players are still fanned out around the arc, waiting to chuck up another 3 -pointer. Never mind the height advantage. Keep on chucking.

Ryan, two critical calls late went against Ashville. One on a lane violation in which Scoop missed a free throw. Appeared to me on the replay that Ashville player on the blocks was in early, but ref pointed to the guy closest to Scoop, who made the two FTs (unbelievably) after that. Triche was fouled on inbounds play. Ball went off his hands. Refs didn't call a foul or give ball to Ashville.

Ryan, typical refs at the ned of a Syracuse game, bad callls, but it didn't hurt Ashville

Everyone roots for an underdog. And the underdog took a No. 1 seed down to the wire. You throw in those two calls that went against Ashville and the crowd let the stripes have it.

Thanks. Sounds like they were good calls. The ref just pointed to the wrong guy on one, and didn't call a foul on Ashville on the other but gave SU the ball back?
Thursday March 15, 2012 5:52 Ryan
5:52
On the play with Triche, refs have either got to call a foul on Asheville or give Asheville the ball because it went off Triche's hands. They did neither.

John, I disagree. I think there was a lane violation, but ref pointed to the wrong guy. I don't think it was an obvious call; iffy call. I only saw it because of the replay.

but calling a foul on Ashville gives SU a 1 and 1. So better to just give Cuse the ball from Ashville standpoint?

Southerland led SU with 15 points off the bench. Waiters and Joseph had 12 points each, Triche had 11. Triche had 9.

J.P. Primm led UNC-A with 18 points, Jaron Lane had 16

donnie, any chance any local reporters will publically critisize JB for his stubborn mentality with the zone and failure to adjust to the opponent i.e. play man or press?

The whole inbounds situation was a circus. It looked like Orange never practiced it, didn't it? Even when Syracuse did get it in bounds, had to burn timeouts and didn't know where to go with it. Just an embarrassing effort by the guards. Dion looked like he was in la-la land the entire second half. When he gets on the floor for a loose ball, let me know.

Joseph and Southerland had 8 rebounds each, Christmas 7. SU outrebounded UNCA 33-31.

Joseph had 3 blocks, Christmas 2

Scoop had 7 assists and 3 turnovers

At the end of the first half wasn't Triche followed in the act of shooting (prior to the clock violation), thus he should have been awarded two shots?

Leo - The zone wasn't Syracuse's problem today (UNCAshville shot 43 percent); the problem stems from dumb decisions on the offensive end with shot selection by SU; not a lot of effort rebounding at times; no concept of what to do inbounding the ball against the press; failure to get on the floor for loose balls; incomprehensible Syracuse could play so dumb; no excuses, really

Rules question: If the foul on Triche at the end of the half occurred before the shot clock expired, which it did if you watch the replay, wouldn't the clock and shot clock both be stopped at that moment, making it impossible for the shot clock to have expired?

I felt they rebounded better today, honestly. Just didn't hustle as much as UNCA.
