Hang on a second - I think Syracuse players are still fanned out around the arc, waiting to chuck up another 3 -pointer. Never mind the height advantage. Keep on chucking.

Ryan, two critical calls late went against Ashville. One on a lane violation in which Scoop missed a free throw. Appeared to me on the replay that Ashville player on the blocks was in early, but ref pointed to the guy closest to Scoop, who made the two FTs (unbelievably) after that. Triche was fouled on inbounds play. Ball went off his hands. Refs didn't call a foul or give ball to Ashville.

The whole inbounds situation was a circus. It looked like Orange never practiced it, didn't it? Even when Syracuse did get it in bounds, had to burn timeouts and didn't know where to go with it. Just an embarrassing effort by the guards. Dion looked like he was in la-la land the entire second half. When he gets on the floor for a loose ball, let me know.

Leo - The zone wasn't Syracuse's problem today (UNCAshville shot 43 percent); the problem stems from dumb decisions on the offensive end with shot selection by SU; not a lot of effort rebounding at times; no concept of what to do inbounding the ball against the press; failure to get on the floor for loose balls; incomprehensible Syracuse could play so dumb; no excuses, really

Rules question: If the foul on Triche at the end of the half occurred before the shot clock expired, which it did if you watch the replay, wouldn't the clock and shot clock both be stopped at that moment, making it impossible for the shot clock to have expired?

Donnie- the lane violation was on the outside player- players outside the 3 point arc when the shot is taken MUST wait until the ball hits the rim- the NC-Ash player was 10 feet inside the arc when the ball hit. The same player did it again on the nexy shot and if Scoop had missed that one as well the ref was ready to call another violation. At the end of the half, Triche's shot should not have counted, but he was fouled before the expiration of the shot clock and should have received two shots as SU was in the double bonus for common fouls.

You are very right about the shaky inbound situation- On that sideline play, as well as "forceouts" along the sidelines, the ref's often award the ball to the offensive player rather than call a foul- but clearly a doubly botched call by the ref.

The second GIF shows a player breaking the 3-point arc before the ball hits the rim. LOL. These websites post stuff w/o knowing the rules or even looking at their own photo evidence. That's probably what he called; you can't see everything on the television copy; the ref pointed down, almost as if he was signaling a lane violation against a UNC-Asheville player closest to Scoop; the replay showed the player on the low block getting in early; but then we all missed it (as did the announcers) if it was a player going over the 3-point arc (if that's a rule).

Couldn't tell you about Waiters and class issues; he's the most NBA-marketable player on the team, so it'll be no surprise to anyone if he leaves after the season. But I was flabbergasted the way he checked out of the game mentally in the second half. That's not NBA ready there.

Sutherland had been cold earlier but you have to play a shooter and get him hot. He is hot now so they must ride on his ability. Scoop and Waiters drive to the rim. That is where you shine.

Why does Kris take so many threes? Against a team with biggest starter 6'5", he goes 0-5 from deep? I get the guards doing it - Scoop doesn't know any better - but a 6'7" whose game is going to the hoop ... why?

It was no accident UNC-Asheville fouled him immediately (before the lane/arc violation deal). He's an inadequate free throw shooter to be a senior guard; but then he knocked down four in a row after getting a reprieve. Do you trust him to make a big free throw?

Waiters is an incredible talent; its obvious that he's got some exceptional offensive skills; but I can't understand how he checked out of the game today in the second half - like fouling the player on the 3-point shot and standing and watching loose balls or rebounds; he seemed mentally out of it in the clutch. Confusing.

Raq had a decent game (except when he was rejected by the rim on that one dunk); he had five offensive rebounds; the problem today was key players like Joseph and Fair and Scoop and Waiters and Triche making too many forced mistakes; the player who rose to the occasion today was James Sutherland; otherwise, Syracuse is probably out

Musings from the game:The thing that made the biggest impresssion on me was that Syracuse came out flat and they seemed tired. They were a step slow on defense, left wide open shots, were sluggish with poor ball movement, and missed numerous open shots like their legs were tired. They looked like they were out of gas. It's a fact, that sometimes emotional stress can cause more fatigue than physical exhaustion. Afterall, you at least have adrenalin to fall back on when you are physically spent. I hope I'm wrong, but I think all the drama of this season has finally caught up with them. Secondly, the senior leadership was missing until crunch time in the second half. Thirdly, James grew up today! Number four, they won the battle on the boards, even if it was against a smaller team. Rak played well but still needs to mature in a hurry. C.J. was missing in action. Dion kept us in the game in the first half. I'm not optomistic about the next game.

There's no way Syracuse didn't anticipate a press knowing it had a pretty good chance of leading the game; the complete lack of execution was astounding; Sutherland had the ball out of bounds and Scoop is running around like he's just getting set up to make a pick; it did come across as clueless

Hey, folks, I want to thank everyone for joining us for today's Q&A. A lot of interesting discussion.

Please check Syracuse.com for complete coverage of today's game and Syracuse's entire tournament run, as well as updates on all the NCAA Tournament action. We'll have in-game updates from SU-Kansas State on Saturday. We're unsure about a post-game Q&A ... depends on the time of the game, which won't be released until late tonight.

Thanks again for joining us everyone, and have a great night.
