Tuesday July 15, 2008 10:21 ericasadun
10:23

Pytey, Guest asks: "When will the jailbreak be released". Everyone please give pytey time to respond to the questions.

10:24
pytey:
Guys, as we've said in the blog.. "When it is released" , it shouldn't be too long now, we had some good reasons for delay (the announcment of the 3G iphone). So just hang on :)

pytey, what have been some of the challenges of the 3G jailbreak?
Tuesday July 15, 2008 10:26 ericasadun

Appstore is also not available in certain countries...

ericasadun:
Several of our readers want to know about hacktivation. They want to use the iPhone 3G with non-iPhone account AT&T sims. Will the dev team deliver a tool that helps with this?
Tuesday July 15, 2008 10:28 ericasadun
10:29
pytey:
Well, jailbreaking is the first step to an unlock. PwnageTool doesn't unlock 3G devices (yet).
Tuesday July 15, 2008 10:29 pytey
10:30
pytey:

Tuesday July 15, 2008 10:31 ericasadun

(All official Apple applications must be signed by an approved developer in order to run properly on an iPHone)
Tuesday July 15, 2008 10:31 ericasadun
10:32
pytey:
Well, applications need to be signed to work on the phones. We have a process for this. All will be revealed with the release.

Tuesday July 15, 2008 10:32 Robert

10:38
pytey:
We are not the best people to ask about the soak testing of the release version of 2.0. We've used the OS on the iPhone over and over again, to test hacks, but we've not really used it as a phone. I've found it fine though in the limited use I've had.

Tuesday July 15, 2008 11:07 ericasadun
11:08
pytey:
Applications will need to be fixed and recompiled, there are loads of fantastic apps that didn't make it into the AppStore, so these will be offered by installer.app and cydia. Great apps are being prepared to be distributed on installer.app it will be a great compliment to the Appstore.

This is a tricky one, Apple have made some sole distribution clauses in app contracts. It is a shame, I'm guessing people will have to make the choice of big bucks or free of charge.
