Hello all. We're trying a new big of software today that will make blogging the game a bit easier. If you're on, give it a try. I think you can comment on here too.

Agreed. If this game comes down the rush offense, then we're at a disadvantage. Especially with Jamal Lewis in town.

I don't know Sloppy. But it's nice to hear that from Lewis. Gives you a feel that this team will only go so far the way it is. But we've been saying that for over a decade now.

The sun is out, sky is clearing and the game is about to start. Losing both starting safeties has a silver lining. We'll get to see our rookies start and see what they're all about. The only knock on both coming out of college was pass coverage. But it's not like we haven't seen that before with our existing safeties.
Sunday December 23, 2007 12:59
1:00
Coin Toss: Browns call tails. It's heads. Bengals will receive to start the game.
Sunday December 23, 2007 1:00
1:03
Holt fumbles! After returning it to the 25-yard line, he got hit and lost the ball. After the pile broke up, the Bengals got the ball back.
Sunday December 23, 2007 1:03
1:04
Palmer starts the game under center with DeDe Dorsey in the backfield. Handoff to DeDe. He breaks a tackle in the backfield on a handoff to the left. Picks up good yards. DeDe is limping to the sidelines.
Sunday December 23, 2007 1:04
1:05
FYI. I'm not telegraphing each play. I still rely on the fact you're either watching the game or keeping up with your respective game center.
Sunday December 23, 2007 1:05
1:08
Question: Why do we run reverses? I'm not sure if we've had a reverse or end around that's gained more than 10 yards. Holt got this one motioning from wide right to beside the tight end. Plamer pitched it to Holt who came around for a single yard.

Back to sloppy. Third and longs are horrible for us. On that play, Palmer slung the pass to the left to Chad who fell down, got back up and had the pass slap him in the chest. Again, Chad wonders, what happened? LOL
Sunday December 23, 2007 1:11
1:12
Third and five, Anderson looks and throws left to Winslow, who stiff armed a John Busing attempted tackle. Nedu blitzed on the play. This could be the product of rookies playing the secondary. Either way, it's a 22-yard pick up.
Sunday December 23, 2007 1:12
1:13
Nice play Michael Myers. Jamal Lewis took the handoff on second down, found a gap to his right and Myers tripped up Lewis setting up a third-and-three.
Sunday December 23, 2007 1:13
1:14
Cribbs lined up in the backfield and Derek Anderson hit Cribbs running to his right in the flats. It was an easy first down conversion.

Another good pick up by the Browns. Wright went right and cut back left. Marvin White was juked out and feel down losing position. Bad play on his part. Then Nedu got hammered on a block. It was an 18-yard pick up.

how about the bengals defense is a bengal killer
Sunday December 23, 2007 1:16 mskiles314
1:16
The Browns have rushed the ball four times for 30 yards. Mostly from wide open cut back lanes and missed tackles in the second level.
Sunday December 23, 2007 1:16
1:17
Nice. On third-and-six, the Bengals defense knew they couldn't stop the Browns offense. So the field at Paul Brown Stadium was the only Bengal to rise up and stop the drive as Anderson slipped before throwing the incomplete.
Sunday December 23, 2007 1:17
1:17
YES! Botched snap on FG attempt means NO points.... is this a momentum swing??!
Sunday December 23, 2007 1:17
1:18
And yes, with the Bengals, there is such a thing as momentum swings with only half of the first quarter played. But our safeties against the run... yikes. At least Jackson could make plays against the run... sometimes.
Sunday December 23, 2007 1:18
1:19
[Comment From mskiles314mskiles314: ]
we'll see if they can look competent on offense. I have little faith in that.
Sunday December 23, 2007 1:19 mskiles314
1:20
They've given us no reason to have faith, skiles.
Sunday December 23, 2007 1:20
1:21
Kenny Watson. Another rush to the left, another decent gain. The Browns blitzed linebackers and the Bengals called a good rush play that took the linebackers out of the play. Nine yard gain.

Sunday December 23, 2007 1:21 tom

Palmer picked off. Palmer rolled out right with Shaun Smith on his arse. It forced Palmer to take a step back while throwing. Palmer attempted to T.J. and Leigh Bodden read the route, predicted the throw and jumped the pass. Skiles hit the nail on the head. The faith is dead on offense. Especially with Palmer.

Kenny Watson: 3 rushes, 16 yards.
Sunday December 23, 2007 1:22
1:24
FYI. They showed the replay and Chad Johnson ran an in-route behind T.J. and he had plenty of seperation. Beat writers and others close to the Bengals say that Palmer is just staring down his receivers. The interception was a perfect example.
Sunday December 23, 2007 1:24
1:25
On third down, in shotgun, Anderson hits Edwards running a crossing pattern from left to right. The play fell about a yard short of the first down. The Browns are going for it.
Sunday December 23, 2007 1:25
1:26
Fourth down. STOPPED. Anderson handed the ball off to Lewis and Michael Myers penetrated the line and made the stop. Turn over on down. Bengals have the ball.
Sunday December 23, 2007 1:26
1:26
[Comment From mskiles314mskiles314: ]
WOOO WOOO what is meant by staring down the receiver?
Sunday December 23, 2007 1:26 mskiles314
1:27
Stare. He's not looking off his intended receivers. Better yet, when he's forced to make a play, he stares down either T.J. and/or Chad.

Sunday December 23, 2007 1:28 tom

Bengals have the ball at the 20. Watson gets the hand off, finds a whole and lowers to the ground for a good gain. Watson keeps proving to the team that he's producing. What else does he have to do to get PT? Hope that Rudi stays hurt?
Sunday December 23, 2007 1:28

Nice job. On third-and-four, T.J., I think, lined up slot left and ran up and then out. Palmer hit T.J. about 2-3 yards short of the first down. T.J. picked up several yards and the first down on his own. Then Watson pounds for another first down on a 10-yard gain.
Sunday December 23, 2007 1:30
1:32
First quarter is over. Kenny Watson shines: 6 carries for 33 yards. How is the Bengals rush defense doing? Jamal Lewis: 6 carries for 17 yards.

Bengals in the red-zone. Think they'll score? They're 24th TD % in the RZ. Bengals line up 3rd-and-6, Palmer throws to the left sidelines in the endzone. Incomplete. Horrible. Why not go for the first down (six yards) rather than trying for the score (11 yards)?

Hey Braz. Our rush offense with Kenny Watson is looking great. Breaking tackles with plenty of room to run. Palmer is off. Again. I think his decision making isn't on. The Bengals defense, it seems, is hanging on by a thread. But they have shutout the Browns thus far, so, not bad. The first drive was a panic attack on my end, but the Bengals defense stopped the Browns on a fourth and one.

Sunday December 23, 2007 1:45
1:48
Landon came off the field on his own power. Looks like they are attending his knee. Not sure though. Marvin WHITE! On second and eight, Anderson dropped back and fired down the middle of the field. White was one step behind Winslow but White knocked down Winslows right hand forcing the incomplete. Browns call TIMEOUT.
Sunday December 23, 2007 1:48

Landon Johnson. Strained lower back. Question return.
Sunday December 23, 2007 1:51
1:51
Third and eight from the 49-yard line. Anderson in shotgun. Robert Geathers SMOKED the Browns right tackle. Timed the snap perfectly. Geathers speed was too much. The disruption allowed Robinson to come and sack Anderson Browns punt.
Sunday December 23, 2007 1:51
1:55
Bengals back on offense. He fakes the run, has all day to pass and hits Chad Johnson for a good gain. Willie Anderson is in. And dropped that side of the Browns line. Sweet Willie. After that, Kenny recorded his tenth carry of the game, got hit and his legs kept moving, chugging. Reminders of Rudi...
