Twitterjorgearangure -  How many Yankees are around from the '04 collapse? Only 5. How many on the pitching staff? Just one. Mariano Rivera. Pettitte was in HOU

David Kull -  The Yankees have an opportunity to close out the series tonight. If they do, it would be the fifth time in World Series history that the Yankees have clinched the title at home in Game 6. The other times were 1951, 1953, 1977 and 1996.

David Kull -  If the Phillies win, it would be the fifth time the Yankees have hosted a Series-clinching Game 7. And until now, they are 1-3 in clinching Game 7's at home. The only time they've won a Game 7 was in 1947. Meanwhile, they've lost Game 7's in 1926, 1955 and 1957.

Twitterjorgearangure -  Agreed. 04 comparisons not ringing with me. RT @rebecca_glass: Mariano Rivera is the least of the Yankees' concerns

David Kull -  Much has been made of Andy Pettitte pitching on three days' rest. Here are his numbers:

--He has made 12 career regular-season starts on three days' rest AFTER A START, going 2-6 with a 4.70 ERA, according to Elias.
--He last started on three days' rest between starts on Sept. 30, 2006, with the Astros. He allowed one ER in 7 IP (4 H, 1 BB, 7 K) in a no-decision against Atlanta.
--He has made six career postseason starts on three days' rest, going 3-1 with a 3.24 ERA, according to Elias. His last postseason start on three days' rest came on Oct. 19, 2003, against Florida in Game 2 of the World Series. He got the victory in the Yankees' 6-1 win (8 2/3 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 7 K, 111 pitches).

Twitterjorgearangure -  life expectancy of goats are 15-18 years. So an "old goat" would be any older than 10. An old goat pitcher, according to Pedro, is about 35
4:07
David Kull -  Pettitte is undefeated in his last seven postseason starts dating back to 2005 NLCS Game 5 with Houston, going 3-0 with a 2.68 ERA. It is the longest current undefeated streak of postseason starts among active major leaguers. He's also lasted at least six innings in each of his last 11 postseason starts. Only two other pitchers have a streak as long -- John Smoltz (14) and the other guy pitching tonight, Pedro Martinez (11).

David Kull -  In Game 2, Joe Girardi chose to play Jerry Hairston Jr. in right field over Nick Swisher with Pedro Martinez on the mound. Here's what Girardi said in today's pregame interview about starting Swisher in RF instead of Hairston tonight:

"Swish has been our everyday right fielder. We thought it was important that Swish just sit down for a day. His at-bats have been very good since we sat him down. We don't always look at how many hits you get. We look at the at-bats, and does he hit the ball hard, and does he square the ball up and is he seeing pitches?"
4:33
Twitterjaysonst -  Shane Victorino playing CF for Phillies. If he couldn't have played, Phillies probably would have been forced to play (yep) Eric Bruntlett
4:34
Twitterjaysonst -  Phillies' only lineup change from game 1 is that Pedro Feliz is now hitting 7th ahead of Ben Francisco. Ibanez DH-ing, hitting 6th
