Jason Truitt -

For anyone who isn't familiar with how this chat works, I'll throw out a topic to get us started and then sit back and let you all weigh on with your opinions. ...

Jason Truitt -  Once the conversation has run its course, we'll move on to the next topic and so on until we get to the end of the agenda. If there's time at the end, I'll open the floor for your editorial topic suggestions.

Jason Truitt -  Let's get started ...

Jason Truitt -  Some locals were skeptical a year ago when Really Cools Foods announced it would make Wayne County its home and create 1,000 jobs and invest $100 million within seven years. It looks as if the company is making good on its promise. Really Cool Foods has invested $22 million in its first year in Wayne County and announced a merger with Renaissance Food Group in June. As a corporate citizen, it's doing all the right things to make itself a valuable partner in the community. In a dicey economy, it's so far been an oasis of growth and prosperity.

[Comment From LEG]
Skepticism about companies' promises has frequently been justified, so I don't think you need to deride some local skeptics. But it is good to see Really Cool succeeding.

[Comment From SJ]
I'll echo LEG on this. This area has been burned by companies and their false promises way too often in the past. For a company to not only make a promise, but to follow through on such a huge local investment is an absolutely great thing for the community. I hope people appreciate what they are doing in this economy.
