The Ragbirds live chat from Rothbury

3:41
Mike Itchue -  Good afternoon. It's a beautiful day here at Rothbury.
3:42
Mike Itchue -  The Ragbirds will be joining us in about 20 minutes. Hang tight until then
3:49
Mike Itchue -  Muskegon Chronicle reporter Jeff Engel will be moderating the chat this afternoon. He will be joining us shortly.
3:50
jeffchronicle -  Hey everyone, this is Jeff from the Chronicle. I'll be talking with the band soon. Bare with us, as we have a limited number of laptops on site. I will be asking questions and relaying the band's responses under my user name.
3:54
jeffchronicle -

Little change of plans. We have found a laptop, so lead singer Erin Zindle will be joining us shortly.

I heard you guys just came back from Japan. What would you consider the best part of this particular trip?
3:57
jeffchronicle -  Thanks for joining us Kalih. Give us a couple minutes to get set up, and then the band will be happy to answer questions.
4:02
Erin Zindle -  The show at the Green Room Festival in Yokohama was amazing!   The crowd was hyper-charged and they were singing along with my songs!
4:03
jeffchronicle -

Thanks for joining us Erin! What was it like visiting Tower Records in Tokyo?

4:04
Erin Zindle -  It was so overwhelming - such a huge display of records!   It was such an honor to see our Wanderlove CD featured and displayed in such a place!
4:04
jeffchronicle -  That is very cool. So what are your thoughts on Rothbury thus far?
4:05
Erin Zindle -  It's an honor to be a part of it!   We had a great show - everyone has been kind and helpful!   We especially love the environmental focus of the festival - it is very close to our hearts.

I've noticed that your music takes inspiration from all types of cultures. What would you say is your favorite to use?
4:07
Erin Zindle -  That's hard to say - I am drawn to Irish music because of my ancestry, but something about African and gypsy music really moves me as well and i am not directly related to it.   I just love to travel to different places using music as my vehicle.

Any asian themes in you next record?

[Comment From KEY]
HEYYYYY
4:10
Erin Zindle -  Not especially - some Indian and Middle Eastern.   I think that once i have fully marinated in the Japan experience it will find its way into a song.   I have been listening to traditional Japanese music and learning the language.
4:10
jeffchronicle -

How tough is it to learn Japanese? How many languages can you speak?

4:11
Erin Zindle -  Only English fluently.   I love the Japanese language, though, and though it is hard - I like the logic of it and the way it feels to speak it.   I have studied french and a little bit of Italian and Spanish, but I can't roll my "R"s - no matter how hard I try!
4:12
jeffchronicle -  Lol I understand your frustration. I speak some Spanish myself, and that is probably the toughest part. What about African languages? You played a song today that used African phrases.
