What suggestions for job search might you have for someone who is looking to relocate to a city in which they have very limited network contacts? Would you suggest that they go right to the job recruiting companies?

- Hi Dan -- thanks for your question.

- In short, I would leave no stone unturned. First, yes, contact recruiters in the area.

- Use linked in and search for contacts in that new geographic area.

- Linked in allows you to specify a geographic area and then search by keyword. So if you are looking at a med device company in San Diego, you can search by those key words.

- Additionally, if you attended college, you can contact your alma mater and find out what alumni resources might be in that new city. Do they have networking groups for alums?
