Ted, what names are you hearing that are the big impact players signed out of this football class? Also, have you heard any feedback on the new defensive coordinator and how that's working out? Thanks for having the chat today, Big EZ Wave

Ted Lewis, T-P -

Hi, Big EZ

Certainly they are looking for big things right away from D.J. Banks, both as a receiver and return man and in wildcat formations. Jordan Sullen also has a chance to play at lot at WR and at the least Cody Ledford will be a big cog on special teams.

I think you can count on Ryan Rome being the kicker, although Darren deRochement came in with good credentials as a punter and he's on the bench with little hope of getting off. Kicking is a funny thing.

Stephen Barnett or Payten Jason will see some action at runing back. Shane Delery has a chance to play on the defensive line

And there are always surprises.

[Comment From Greenie]
Ted, so what are your thoughts on our class? Seems good for Tulane, huh?
12:07
Ted Lewis, T-P -  Greenie, I think the big thing is that most of these guys are players that Tulane had been scouting and recruting for two and in some cases three years.

So much of the time in recruiting we concentrate on the "sell" and neglect talent evaluation - which in Tulane's case means players who might not be 4 or 5-star prospects but who have ability that can be developed.

The coaches were very happy with the class, especially that everyone stayed with their commitments. After losing two guys last year at the last minute, that was a major relief. But it speaks to the job the staff did.

So why do you think the basketball team is struggling so much? I thought we were supposed to be experienced and ready to play better.
12:09
Ted Lewis, T-P -  Experience doesn't always translate to ability.

I think this team is playing about as good as it can, but when you have no outside shooting game, size problems inside and little depth, especially after the loss of Kendall Timmons, there's a limit to how much you can achieve.

I think that's been pretty obvious since the beginning of the season.

That being said, I believe this group will play hard to the end. That's why Dave Dickerson is so fond of them.

Ted: When is the Times Picayune going to evaluate the true problems of the Green Wave athletic administration?
12:10
Ted Lewis, T-P -  Good question City Park.

We're working on it.
