Live chat: Houston Cougars

11:26
Steve Campbell -  Good morning everybody.
11:27
Steve Campbell -  I'm early, so maybe there aren't a lot of everybody's out there at this point.
11:27
Steve Campbell -  I guess it's just me and the Maytag repairman at this point.
11:29
Steve Campbell -  Here's hoping some of you are consumed with my latest blog entry -- on basketball -- that you can't tear yourselves away until you've finished every word.

Or maybe you're just washing   your hair.

Will the Tulsa game be televised here... do you know?
11:29
Steve Campbell -  Tulsa game is on CBS College Sports. I'll leave that to all you to figure out how that dovetails with your respective cable/satellite systems.

What's your prediction for this weekend, Steve?
11:31
Steve Campbell -  I find it odd that Tulsa has been favored at least some point this week. Don't know what the latest line is. I keep seeing Houston 35, Tulsa 17 in my head. ... I'm the guy who saw UH-Soutern Miss being a final possession game, but I had the score in the high 20s or low 30s. So what do I know?

The Coogs are on CBS College Sports, Dish 152, DTV 613, Comcast 106
11:31
Steve Campbell -  Nate, you are a television savant.
11:31
Steve Campbell -  I can only speak to Dish, because that's what I have. Not that I'm ever using it when UH is playing.

Hey Steve. Great job on the coverage. What are your thoughts on UH Defense being able to slow down the Tulsa offense. Since they seem to have more problems with the run than the pass, I would think that they would be able to have a pretty good showing this week.
11:34
Steve Campbell -  I think some people have been overreacting to the Southern Miss game. The fourth quarter was bad, no doubt. Terrible. But for the first 48 minutes, UH held USM to a respectable 22 points (10 set up by turnovers). Look, UH isn't going to be a shutdown team, and Southern Miss had the kind of running game that figured to make things really difficult. But the Cougars have done a fairly good job in general of avoiding the big play, making teams work the ball up the field. As evidenced by my 35-17 prediction, I think the defense will do a pretty good job of containing Tulsa.

If UH plays in C-USA title game who are they likely to face?
11:36
Steve Campbell -  East Carolina has the inside track at 4-1. I think that would be a real favorable matchup for UH. EC plays pretty good defense, but I just don't think it can score much unless the Cougars were to self-destruct with a bunch of turnovers. The team I wouldn't want to see again is Southern Miss. That'd be a tough rematch.

Does Keenum have a legit shot at Heisman?
11:38
Steve Campbell -  I think Keenum has a very good case (and getting better), but I still don't like his chances. People are going to discount what he does because of the prolific system and because of the lukewarm conference competition. The precedent for non-BCS guys just isn't good. ... One thing working in his favor is that I don't think anybody from the marquee schools have made compelling cases. I could actually build a pretty good one if somebody put me in charge of Case's campaign. I may do something on that next week if Case has a big game Saturday.
11:39
Steve Campbell -  Speaking of Case, here's a shameless plug: I have what I think is a pretty interesting story on him -- not about the Heisman -- that will run in Saturday's paper and on chron.com.

If you had a vote for the Fulmer award, a contest I just made up for the most despised coach in the FBS, who's your frontrunner? We all know Graham is a finalist, though, right?!
11:39
Steve Campbell -  Graham would be a finalist, no doubt. Steve Spurrier would be in the running. Lane Kiffin is showing tremendous promise as a rookie.
