CFoote -  Welcome to panel at Tech Forum with David Jakes, Helen Mowers, Clarence Fisher, Miguel Guhlin

CFoote -

@djakes what does it mean to be well educated in the 21st century?

10:02
CFoote -  Discuss this comment via a David Warlick Tweet-- Paul Houston: "people want schools to be better, but not different."
10:02
CFoote -  Is this true? How does web 2.0 make schools better?
10:03
CFoote -

Miguel--we start working on change, but people leave and then change falls apart

CFoote -  Clarence Fisher --   As parents we think maybe kids have to "go through" what we did.   Web 2.0 is not a magic wand.   Some kids hate some of the tools, it's not a panacea.

CFoote -  we're talking about how to make schools better and role of web 2.0.   I think web 2.0 does have a "key"--it's more grassroots, and more democratic so I think it speaks to students being more powerful
10:11
CFoote -  someone said they think that we learn how schools can be better is from students
10:11
CFoote -  someone is raising the "outside" community using testing as a measure and how does this make this discussion irrelevant in the real world.
