Since the majority of negotiations have taken place behind closed doors, I cannot really tell you where things stand in the House of Representatives but the Senate unveiled the latest version of their plan this (Monday) afternoon and it looks alot like the big government solution, higher taxes, mandates and a public option of earlier versions.

5:37	Dale McConnaughay - There seems to be some hesitancy among the Blue Dog Democrats to let this be a Democratic-only health care plan ... do you sense that?

5:39	[Comment From Rep. Mike Pence] I hope the hesitancy among some of my conservative Democrat colleagues is based on their sincere concern about creation of a massive new government insurance plan and its effect on working families. I dont think their opposition is purely about party politics.

5:40	Dale McConnaughay - On aother topic, you are among the president's critics on Afghan policy, or a lack thereof. Would you recommend a particular course of action to the administration?

I dont consider myself a critic of the President's policy on Afghanistan. I strongly supported the President's request for troops in March of this year and told the President, at that time, that I would stand with him as he sought to provide our soldiers with the resources they need to defeat the Taliban and Al Qaeda. My recent statements were meant to urge the President to act decisively and provide General McChrystal the resources he has requested.
