Welcome to our live blog from the Class 3A DeKalb Super-Sectional, where the Rock Island boys' basketball team takes on Oswego's Panthers for a berth in this weekend's state final four.
Hello, everybody, I'm Steve Tappa, sitting here courtside with my Moline Dispatch/Rock Island Argus colleague Dan Makarewicz. And we're so happy to be bring this coverage to you.

We're about 15 minutes from tipoff. The teams are on the court warming up and the public address announcer has just launched into his announcements.

The Panthers just jogged by our position here, on the west end of Northern Illinois University's Convocation Center, on the way to their locker room. Looks like the Rocky bench will be on the opposite end of the floor from us.

As a team, does Oswego have good size?

Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. The 3A super-sectional preceeds a 4A super-sectional at 8 p.m.

Rock Island just left the floor for their locker room.
And, the Panther crowd roars as their team re-enters the arena. A nice throng of students underneath the west-end basket to cheer on Oswego.

These two schools met in the Class 6A state football playoff second round in the fall. I was there. One heck of a back-and-forth game. Let's hope this contest lives up to that one.

And here come the Rocks to the roaring approval of their crowd.
