Big 12 Championships: Friday

10:53
Mike Sherman -
10:54
Mike Koehler -   Good morning, Big 12 Chatters. We're getting ready to watch the OU women after a wild night at the Ford Center last night.
10:57
[Comment From Jenni Carlson]
For 11 a.m., there's a big and loud crowd here at the Cox Center. It's a crimson crowd, by the way.
10:57
[Comment From Josh]
I like Oklahoma - big.
10:59
[Comment From Berry Tramel]
The crowd's actually not as big as I thought it'd be. The streets had a bunch of people at 10 a.m. The Myriad parking lot was full. I thought the arena would be close to full. I'd say it's about half right now.
11:02
Jenni Carlson -  Folks are still out finding coffee. After last night's craziness, everyone needs a little caffeine.
11:02
Mike Koehler -   Hear, hear
11:06
Berry Tramel -  Amanda Thompson just sank a jumper. That's what she's got to do if OU is going to win it all. To me, she's the No. 1 key. Thompson has to play well and Danielle Robinson has to limit turnovers.
11:07
Berry Tramel -  I detect a new strategy for OU. Robinson just sank a 15-foot jumper, early in the shot clock. That's something she hardly ever tries. Maybe Sherri Coale has told her perimeter players to be more assertive.
11:07
Jenni Carlson -  Right now, it's either a make or a turnover for the Sooners. TOs must decline in March for the Sooners to make a deep run.
11:08
Berry Tramel -  Whitney Hand started, received a loud ovation and missed a jumper. But that's still good news for OU.
11:10
Berry Tramel -  Courtney Paris' foul-shooting form still drives me nuts. She shoots free throws like she's in one of those halftime contests, where you have 30 seconds to make four shots, and you'd better hurry.
11:11
Mike Sherman -  timeout Kansas 16:05.
11:11
Mike Sherman -  OU is playing frenetic defense and patient offense. That's a rare combination, but it's working.
11:12
Jenni Carlson -

Amanda Thompson has six of the Sooners' first nine points. She has the toughness that this team needs. If she plays like this, I like the Sooners' chances to win the title this weekend.
