UNC vs. Belmont Abbey exhibition

7:03
welcome to the DTH live chat from the UNC exhibition game against Belmont Abbey! We're officially up and running

7:07

Couple of things we'll be looking at during the game: Marcus Ginyard's return to action, UNC's backcourt, and the talented freshman class.

7:12
another quick note, we've said this before, but UNC's freshman twins Travis and David Wear are impossible to tell apart. Slightly different shooting form but outside of that they're going to play heck with writers like me trying to take notes on them. And their numbers are 34 and 43.
7:15
And again UNC plays the 100 years video montage. Looks like we're going to see this one for every game.
7:18
feel free to add comments of your own! I'll be giving periodical updates as the game goes on.

What is the crowd like tonight? I know that it is an exhibition game, but how full is the Smith Center?
7:28

It's actually pretty full. the corners and some places are spotty, but the lower level is mostly full.

7:30
After an epic opening montage, here's starting lineup for the exhibition game:
Will Graves
Deon Thompson
Marcus Ginyard
Ed Davis
Larry Drew

7:32

and game on!

7:32

On UNC's opening possesion, Deon Thompson is tied up and UNC turns the ball over

7:33
Belmont Abbey strikes first with a deep jumper by Andrew Fells. Thompson answers. 2-2
7:35

Ed Davis with a nice 3-point play to make the score 7-4.

7:36
John Henson into the game. The freshman is scary long, but he airballed his first free-throw.
7:37
Zeller into the game. UNC has a troop of big bodies they can throw into the post.
7:38
Thompson with the first dunk of the game on a nice dump off by Drew

7:41
Henson with a nice weak-side block which leads to a Thompson breakaway dunk. Yikes this kid is long.
7:43
Dexter Strickland in for Drew. He gets a quick steal and a dunk.
7:43
Henson, Davis and Zeller swat at just about everything. They're changing almost every shot.
7:47
Strickland with a fadeaway jumper for 2. Sweet stroke, and he's playing smothering defense. He looks like a solid player, but keep in mind that Belmont Abbey isn't on the same level athletically.
7:51

While Belmont Abbey can't really match up with the length and size of UNC, they are giving a scrappy effort. the Crusaders have a couple of good shooters and they're being smart and beating UNC's pressure with backdoor cuts.
