Everett at Lethbridge

5:43
The Herald -  Good evening, and welcome to tonight's live blog of the Everett Silvertips' game against the Lethbridge Hurricanes.
5:44
The Herald -  The Silvertips come into the game 10-4-0-0, having won each of the first four games of their six-game swing through the Central Division.
5:44
The Herald -  Lethbridge comes in with a 5-11-2-0 record, coming off two straight losses.
5:45
The Herald -  Everett's sending Kent Simpson out between the pipes. Both Simpson and Thomas Heemskerk have been fantastic during the road trip. Goaltending is probably reason No. 1 for the Tips' success on the trip so far.
5:46
The Herald -  Meanwhile, the Hurricanes turn to rookie 17-year-old Brandon Anderson as Lethbridge's top two netminders are both out injured.

hey Nick. Thanks for hosting again. Look forward to making it 5 for 5 tonight
5:47
The Herald -  Lethbridge, despite its record, has some top-end talent as forward Carter Ashton and defenseman Luca Sbisa are both first-round NHL draft picks.

The Herald -  Portland is in action tonight, a tough game against Vancouver. No Americans tonight, but Spokane is hosting Chilliwack.

10 minutes to game time and out of the 100 or so seats you can see on the Livestream, it looks like there are 5 people in the stands.
5:51
The Herald -  One thing about the Canadian rinks. The first few rows are not the desired seats. So it's not necessarily the best indication of the crowd.

As a media member, what is your take on the suspension in the OHL handed down? Have you had a chance to talk to anyone about it?
5:52
The Herald -  Well, I've watched the short clip of the hit, which only tells so much. I'm not familiar with the player's history at all. But it certainly was a heavy suspension handed down. Very surprising.
5:53
The Herald -  It certainly has caused a few waves though, hasn't it?
5:54
[Comment From tipped off]
yeah. It sure has.

It's everywhere too. Especially in the Canadian markets, but even U.S. media are starting to pick it up
5:56
The Herald -  I'll be interested to see what happens in this league should something similar happen. The WHL is generally considered the most-rugged of the CHL leagues, so I can't see a similar suspension being handed down. However, David Branch is the president of the entire CHL, so who knows.
