Philly.com -  Welcome to today's Eagles chat with the Inquirer's Jeff McLane. He will join us at 11 a.m. but feel free to submit questions and comments now.

Jeff McLane -  OK, guys, I'm on time. No practice today. So I got an hour to spare. Let's get going ...

[Comment From Dave]
After watching all camp and preseason, will the defense be worse without Dawkins?
11:00
Jeff McLane -  Dave: I think there's a chance the defense will be worse off than last season, but I don't think it will have anything to do with Dawkins leaving. Dawk will always hold a place in the hearts of Eagles fans, but the guy lost a step and looks like he may have lost another in he offseason (judging from the Broncos-Bears game). I think the biggest losses will be Jim Johnson and Stew Bradley.

does reggie brown actually have any trade value?
11:02
Jeff McLane -  JR: I think he does. I was talking about this very subject with a few of the other reporters and I think the consensus believed the Eagles could get a fifth-round draft pick in return. And the Eagles love to stock pile on picks. Brown has been just OK this preseason. I thought he started off with se fire but has sizzled since.

[Comment From George]
Jeff, I haven't heard an update on Shawn Andrews in terms of how he looks in practice. What do you think? Will he be ready Week 1?
11:04
Jeff McLane -  George: I thought we did give one. But here you go: He actually looks very good. Now, mind you, he hasn't participated in any contact drills and hasn't been hit yet. But just yesterday there was a play in which a Feeley pass bounced off a linebacker and into the arms of Westbrook.  BWest pitched a lateral to Stacy Andrews who then lateraled to his younger brother. Shawn took off downfield. I mean, took off. It's a shame because for all of Shawn's off-the-field issues, when the guy wants to play he's a beast.

Whats your prediction on the Eagle's Wins this year and if they make the playoffs?
11:06
Jeff McLane -  Dale: Here we go. I should probably wait until right   before the season, but judging the team as it is now I'd say 9 wins -- maybe 10. That gets the Eagles a wild card bid and into the playoffs. After that, who knows? Right?
