Grammys Chat with the Globe's James Reed and Katie Johnston Chase

1:54
Katie -  Hello out there. We're going to start  dishing about the Grammys  at 2, so go ahead and start sending in your comments/questions. Snarky remarks about Kanye's mullet (or James's) are welcome.

Someone needs to tell Katy Perry to fire her stylist becuase I'm really not entirely sure wth she was wearing during her performance (and I like that song, as much as I hate to admit it)
2:01
Katie -  I secretly like that song too ("I Kissed a Girl")! It was running through my head all night, which I didn't like. And I actually enjoyed her fruity outfit, and the arrival in a banana --  but seriously,  what was with the flats?

[Comment From Bonus Jonas]
I have a soft spot for Jennifer Hudson, but what was up with the white sail of a dress that blew her onto stage lat night?
2:03
James Reed -  Hey, Bonus Jonas and everyone else. So I didn't mind Hudson's second outfit, but yeah, the first one was a bit odd. Was that a giant Kleenex? But look at it this way: at least it was better than that little jacket she wore last year.

love kanye and most of the show but stevie wonder and jonas bros was painful
2:04
Katie -  I think the Jonas half of the matchup was painful, but Stevie can do no wrong in my book.

[Comment From SarahBeth]
Pluna, I totally agree with you. My ears were bleeding....
2:05
James Reed -  I agree with you, Katie. It was cute at first -- oh, look, a legend with the whippersnappers -- but we never got enough of Stevie by himself. And I never want to hear a Jonas Brother say, "Show us what you got, Stevie!" Kid, you wouldn't even be able to handle it.

Hi, I agree with you Katie. Yes, Jonas/Wonder was annoying. Much better without the Jonai

[Comment From MikeF]
The Grammy voting system needs an overhaul- e.g. "Record of the Year" goes to producers, and many of the best songs nowadays are produced by the bands doing the music.
2:08
James Reed -  Hey, MikeF, that's a good point. Last night's telecast featured more performances than any of the previous ceremonies. Which might have accounted for all the bizarre performance pairings. I didn't mind Al Green with Justin Timberlake as much as I thought I would.

What was MIA thinking coming out with that outfit? very weird.
2:08
Katie -  Again, loved M.I.A.'s spotted ladybut outfit. That takes some nerve! And Sunday   was her due date. Just wished the cameras had stayed on her more than on the Rap Pack.

Why didn't they show Country Album of the Year?
2:09
James Reed -  Hey, Sue, I'm guessing all those performances pushed out some of the live presentations of the awards. The country category, for instance, was announced before the telecast. I think the only bit of country we got was Sugarland accepting for best country performance.

[Comment From SarahBeth]
And is it just me, or did they only give out about 11 awards televised last night? It seemed like it was all about the performances, and less about the awards. Last time I checked, it was an awards show. I'd rather see more awards televised.
2:10
Katie -  I don't know if most viewers (or advertisers)  would agree with your, SarahBeth. Awards speeches = dull. Rocking out = ratings.

[Comment From Bonus Jonas]
M.I.A. got denied camera time, don't you think?
2:11
James Reed -  Yeah, M.I.A. just got a snippet of "Paper Planes" on her own and then made way for the big boys -- T.I., Kanye, Jay-Z, and Lil Wayne. That said, I'm guessing no one could take their eyes off a nine-months-pregnant woman in polka-dotted spandex.
