Dale McConnaughay -  Although it is entirely fitting Richmond and Wayne County recognize and honor local businesses that have redoubled efforts or increased employment locally, we should never be smug about actively and aggressively recruiting new firms. For one thing, they are the lifeblood of new ideas and new ways of doing business. Most communities are in great need of that kind of diverse, revolving leadership.

Yes ...My thought here is that we cannot rest on simply "growing" existing business if we are seeking a wider diversity of business.

(Am I the only non-PI here?) OK, #1 sounds right. Are you going to talk about the annual awards or was that just the reason that triggered the thought?

Well, sure -- the annual awards were intended to recognize existing business that have expanded. And you are the only one on so far, but it is early.
