Today we tackle our first U.S.-based team, and what better one to talk about than the surprising (if that word is even strong enough) Colorado Avalanche.

1:03	CBCSports.ca - Jesse - Shane, I'll lob you the first question (one of the perks of being the moderator): the Avs are tied with San Jose for the most points in the NHL with 26. We're pretty deep into the season now, so I can't see them not making the playoffs. Are you that confident?

Woot, I'm skipping class for this :) To answer the question, yes the Avs are that good, well at least thir goaltending is, they can't rely on two 18 year olds to take them to the playoffs the entire year, with no backup and no defence,Forsberg would be a perfect fit in Colorado, but the old guard is gone, with Sakic retired, so I think they need more help then that, especially on the blueline

1:04	Shane - Avs Talk - At the moment, I am confident of playoff spot. I went in to the season expecting a high draft choice but I'm more than happy to change my mindset. The team looks to be tailing off a bit, but they've shown no signs of giving up.

Shane - Avs Talk - Sam, I'm mildly disappointed in Duchene's start, but only because I had such high expectations. He feels a bit like Steven Stamkos. He came in and was expected to "save the team". You can see the pressure and frustration building, but he's going to be a rock star. Just not an overnight sensation.
