CA LIVE - A/AA State Golf Tournament - Day Two

8:18
John Ferguson -  And we're LIVE from a thoroughly saturated Old Fort Golf Course in Murfreesboro, Tennessee!
8:19
John Ferguson -  Tournament officials said that the rain here stopped around 10pm last night, then began again for a bit around 5am, but the rain totals were not too much, and the tournament is on.
8:23
John Ferguson -  Officials also have said that the ball will be played down - look for even slower play today, as virtually every shot could include a drop for casual water.
8:26
John Ferguson -  The rain will also affect our coverage, unfortunately - try as I may, I can't figure out a way to manipulate camera, umbrella, and laptop at the same time, and I'm flying solo! However, I'll be in as often as possible to update scores, analysis, and commentary throughout the day.
8:29
John Ferguson -  Girls' leader Jordan Britt of Signal Mountain, who shot 73 yesterday, tees off number 1 at 8:50am - anything can happen in these conditions, but at first blush it appears only a couple of girls are in a position to even come close. Lindy McGuire of Alcoa (77), and MacKenzy Carter of Macon County (79) are the only players even within shouting distance.
8:34
John Ferguson -  The boys' tournament is a little more interesting. Payne Denman of DeKalb County leads at -2 after his 70 yesterday, and is in today's final group with Grant Frazier of Trinity (73), D.J. Adcock of Sycamore (74), and Austin Collins of Union County (74).

Aaron Gaddis of Page, who shot 73 yesterday, goes off at 9:00am, and has enough game to perhaps apply some early pressure. Lee Whitehead of CAK (72) tees off at 10:00am, followed by teammate Kory Webb at 10:10am - Webb's -1 71 leaves him just one off the pace.
8:42
John Ferguson -  All right - I'm on my way out to the course. You can follow a complete leaderboard at www.tssaa.org, and I'll be updating here periodically throughout the day. Now where's my umbrella?
8:59
John Ferguson -  Got a little help from a friend, who is going to help from home.
9:28
John Ferguson -  Spoke with a college coach in attendance, who said that the word for
the day was PATIENCE.

"These conditions are the great equalizer. You're not going to hit
every shot solid in this mess, so you have to stay in the moment."
9:37
John Ferguson -  Kick-in birdie on the par-5 second moved Britt back to even-par for
the tournament. She could run away with the girls' title with a quick
start ... and she's certainly starting fast, stuffing her tee shot on
3 to about 12 feet, pin high.
