I would like to introduce Michael Stratton, a therapist and author of “Everybody Dreams,” a novel about dreams and what they tell us. Mike is appearing at Schuler Books & Music on 28th Street tonight at 7 p.m. But right now, he is here to chat with us.

Books Editor Sue Thoms -  Mike, can you tell us a little about your background. Where does your fascination in dreams come from and what led you to learn about interpreting them?

Mike Stratton -  I am a psychotherapist in private practice in East Lansing, Mi. I'm a graduate of Aquinas College here in G.R.; I got my masters at MSU.

Mike Stratton -  I became interested in dreams, well, for my whole life. I've always had very potent dreams, even as a kid. I started to study them in my early adulthood.

Books Editor Sue Thoms -  Can you describe a powerful dream you had as a kid?

Mike Stratton -  I was sitting in a closet in our basement where we kept our old Life and Look magazines. I still remember that cool, musty smell. And I could hear footsteps coming down the steps. Just as the latch of the wood door was lifting, I would wake up.

do you believe people can get visits from deceased love ones in dreams...that are more than just an average dream.

Mike Stratton -  To Suzanne, Yes I do. I think either there are literal or psychological spiritual visits. I always love it when my parents, who have been gone over a decade.
