UConn Football Week 8

10:34
courant.com -  Good morning all ... sad day indeed. The latest from the UConn police is they expect no significant news or announcements today, but they are pursuiing leads. Not much else to say. Desmond Conner will be along at 11 a.m. as usual but you can start in with questions and comments now.

Desmond -

This is certainly not the way you want to begin a live chat but I’m sure we all could use some comforting.   I’ll answer your questions as best I can. It's perfectly fine just to comment, too.  If you want to go a little longer on the chat today we can do that too...   My heart goes out to Jasper Howard’s mom and dad and his two sisters, Coach Edsall, his staff, the players, the UConn community and the fans. It’s going to be a while before we all get past this one. Catch you in about 5

Does the university has anything planned for next week game? Plus why wasnt this week game postponed.

Desmond -  I know there  was talk about  recognizing Jazz in some way. I think we'll get more details in the coming days...

I'm not sure there was a whole lot of thought given to  postponing the game.  I think Jazz would want the team to play the game.

DC - Can you find out if we could set up a scholarship fund in Jazz's name? It would be a great gesture for the UConn community to help out the Howard family. Jasper may have been the first in his family to go off to college, maybe UConn Nation can make sure he is not the last....

Desmond -  I will JB

Dez, i know that you create your own relationship with these players and I hope you too have been guven the strenght to get through these trying times. Do you have any info on any type of donation fund for Jazz's girlfirend and family?

Desmond -

Hey Matt I know UConn officials were talking about that yesterday. I think something is going to happen pretty quickly.

Jazz was an easy young man to form a bond with first of all. From a media stanpoint I know everyone liked him and he always spoke to everyone. As professional as I've tried to be here this touches you personally. I've cried for Jazz. I've cried for his parents. I've cried for gielfriend and unborn child. You want to talk about good kids? This was a good kid trying to do the right thing for himself and his family.
