As the state’s only public university, UH is a pivotal part of the community. You have been on the job for a couple of months, but the community has heard little about your vision. The Hot Seat is the first time the broader community has had a chance to hear from you. Why haven’t you made an attempt to share your vision and why haven’t you reached out to the community?

For many of our children, the university of Hawaii is the only option. What do you intend to do improve the quality of instruction and the reputation of UH? I know you are new, but you must know that the UH has some work to do. You seldom hear anything positive about UH aside from football, and now even that’s not the case. I look forward to your reply. Mahalo.

How do the salaries of your executive team compare with our peers? Tough times call for tough measures...are you willing to cut the salaries for your executive team to save classroom instruction for the students?
