Nathan Deal -  Thank you Chuck. I believe it is important to have a strong, conservative governor of Georgia. My experience as a State Senator and in Congress has prepared me for this. I believe my successor in Congress will follow in my footsteps in providing conservative leadership, along with my Republican colleagues from Georgia who make up the most conservative delegation in Georgia.

I saw your speech on the House floor questioning the constitutionality of parts or all of the Health Care Bill. What should happen next related to this issue? Is there anything we as citizens can or should do?
9:26
Nathan Deal -  That is an excellent question. It goes to the very core of the health care debate. Often, congress assumes that it has the right to legislate on any subject of its choosing. That, of course, does not comply with our Constitution. I do not believe there is any federal authority to require individuals to purchase health insurance or punish them in terms of a tax. It also would provide jail time if you didn't purchase health insurance. There is no place in the Constitution that gives Congress such authority. I believe that if this legislation passes, there will be a court challenge on this subject. It is important for individuals to bring this issue to the forefront, such as is happening in today's event.

Nathan Deal -  These are all very good questions. I'm trying to get to all of them. I appreciate your patience.

As Governor, what will you do to bring jobs to Georgia and make Georgia more competitive in the world marketplace?
9:30
Nathan Deal -  First and foremost, Georgia is and continues to be an attractive location for businesses, large and small. We must have an attractive tax system in our state and we must reduce government regulations that impede businesses. According to the Atlanta Business Chronicle, Georgia has the eighth best business climate in the country. We need to improve that standing. Most of those ranked ahead of us are Southern states, including N.C., Texas, Tennessee, S.C. and Alabama.
Georgia needs to move up and with positive leadership, we can do it.

What experience do you have that makes you a good candidate for Governor?
9:32
Nathan Deal -  I have confronted every major issue facing our state and have voted on those issues, both at the state and federal level. No one has to guess as to where I stand on those issues, they can look at my voting record. No other candidate offers Georgians this kind of experience.

As governor, how do you propose to stop the current administration from taking our state's rights as well as individual's rights?
9:36
Nathan Deal -  I believe the 10th amendment means what it says and that states and individuals control most of the power in the U.S. Constitution. In order to reassert the role of states rights, it will require a strong governor and General Assembly that is willing to support this position and the concurrence of the citizens of Georgia to reclaim the rights that are reserved to our state.

Traffic is a real issue in Atlanta. How do you propose to solve this?
9:40
Nathan Deal -  I believe that revenues from gasoline and sales tax continue to drop. It will be important for their to be an additional revenue source. The General Assembly has wrestled with this issue. Whether they adopt a statewide or regional approach will likely be decided in the upcoming session. It will be important for the citizens of Georgia to offer their opinion as to whether the additional revenue should be offered. The needs of Atlanta are different from other parts of the state, but they are all important. Our current road system was not designed to accommodate the 100,000 trucks going through Atlanta every day.
I as governor will work with the General Assembly, the DOT board, local governments to address the needs of our local communities and our state as a whole.
We cannot attract new industry without addressing this issue

My wife and I moved to GA recently. We have two elementary age children. Private education is not an option to us for financial reasons. What will you do to "raise the bar" so that my children not only get a quality education, but can compete globally when they enter the workforce in the next 12 to 15 years. I am tired of seeing GA at the bottom of the list in educational performance.
9:43
Nathan Deal -  Georgia is fortunate to have many means for the delivery of quality education. Home schools, private school, charter schools and public school. Our state is making strides in improving the quality of educaiton in each of these environments.
As governor, I will work with those in each of these environments to give parents more choices in the education of their children and reward those who are working to produce quality in the classroom.

What is your position on the 2nd Amendment amd promoting wildlife and sportsmen causes?
9:45
Nathan Deal -  i am a strong  proponent  of the 2nd amendment.  i have had a life time A rating from the national rifle association. and I am a member of the professional  sportsmen  caucus.  Georgia is blessed to have many outdoor activities available to our citizens which include the right to hunt and fish in our state.  It gives balance to our lives and as Governor I will protect those rights.

During your career in Congress why have you cast so many affirmative votes for legislation not authorized in the enumerated powers of the Constitution?
9:46
Nathan Deal -  I have not. Thanks for your question.

What makes you different from the other candidates running for Governor? I am tired of the same old rhetoric - I want someone who will be a leader for this state - are you that person?
9:50
Nathan Deal -
I am that person.  I have dedicated my life to serving our Nation and our State. I am one of the few candidates who has served in the U.S. Military, as a prosecuting attorney, a juvenile court judge, a state Senator and a Congressman.
I believe that public service in honorable and I will dedicate my best efforts, as I have in the past to improve quality of life for all Georgians.
As a native Georgians, raised in Middle Georgia and educated in our state's schools and a university in our state, I understand diverse needs of Georgia.
I listen to people and try to make decisions based on the best information available.
