Eric Crawford Thursday night live chat

10:00
Eric Crawford -  It's 10 o'clock, and we're up and running. Your questions are welcome, all topics considered.

Although we have no idea how they feel about the possible opening at the moment, how do you feel about the prospect of Tommy Tuberville or Phillip Fullmer finishing their coaching careers at UofL? Would it be better to hire a younger, up and coming coach?
10:02
Eric Crawford -  Well, I keep thinking about this. And what is so bad about having some of the best young names in coaching passing through every four or five years. The problem with getting a lifer is that -- well, you might have to have him for longer than you want. Those things almost never end well.

Hello Eric... do you think UofL can win any other Big East football games this year? Any chance against Syracuse?
10:03
Eric Crawford -  I don't think it looks good. And the big reason why is the reason I worried about at the beginning of the season -- the grind. These games without a bye week are taking a toll on a team that wasn't deep in the first place.

How bad will UK beat Little Brother this year
10:04
Eric Crawford -  Going to wait to see them both play a few games before I wade in on that one. I haven't seen enough of the Wildcats yet, but am looking forward to changing that.

How come Zach Stout isn't seeing any playing time? Is he on the outs with coach K?
10:06
Eric Crawford -  The only word I've ever gotten on Stoudt is that he was a long way behind as far as knowing the playbook. I think people may have a far, far heightened idea of how good he is. However, given what we've seen so far this season -- I have to agree with your question. Why wouldn't you try him?

Sounds like a packed house tonight. You have been reporting for a long time during Tom Jurich's tenure as AD. Based on his previous tendencies, do you see him remaining silent until the season is complete? Could ridiculously poor performances cause an earlier decision?
10:07
Eric Crawford -  That's a good question. I don't think they have any desire to say anything before the season is over. I haven't seen any movement away from that. But, you know as well as I do, if they lose Saturday, the pressure is just going to ratchet up that much more. At some point, you wonder when it won't be best for everybody to just come out and say that a change will be made.
10:07
Eric Crawford -  I still don't see any way that Kragthorpe won't finish out the season.

Have you received any flack from the athletic dept. over your article about Krags being one dimensional
10:08
Eric Crawford -  No.

will you get to go to the USF game? Tampa is a nice place to be in late November :-)
10:09
Eric Crawford -  Thankfully, yes! Travel time is upon me. I have the Breeders' Cup in Los Angeles next week, will be in Tampa with football also St. Louis and Las Vegas trips coming.

[Comment From Phillip]
what is the percentage that Krag keeps his job with a 5-7 record?
10:10
Eric Crawford -  I think that question is moot.
10:10
Eric Crawford -  Before the season I laid out the criteria that I thought probably would save him. Look at them.

5 wins? No.
Top 4 in Big East in major offensive categories? No.
No embarrassing blowouts? No.
Improved communication? No.

Any indication of Willard's influence in anything that UofL ran on offense or defense last night?
