4:28 | 1320 KFAN - - While Wyoming comes in struggling, they are an improved team. With that said, the Utes should have no problem running over them. BUT, this game should tell us more about the future of the team with Terrance Cain as QB. The coaching staff has been disappointed in his progression to this point and are looking for Cain to prove that he can lead this team. Tonight, Cain will get a chance to show progress or Kyle Whittingham's threats to play freshman Jordan Wynn may come to fruition.
3 Things to watch for -
1 - Cain's reads. The staff has been unhappy with Cain's tendency to lock onto David Reed as the only option when he drops back to pass. This has been addressed inside the team and openly in the media. Tonight, watch to see how many different receivers Cain gets involved into the passing game. And if he looks off of Reed.
2 - Cain's reads of Defenses. Wyoming is a rush 3 drop 8 team. This is the same coverage that gave Cain fits against Oregon. Has Cain progressed enough to read and react, finding the open spot in the Cowboy's Zone.
3 - Defensive Domination. Will the defense continue to see improvement this week as they have in the past 5. The front 4 adds Lei Talamaivao who returns from injury. In his absence the Utes have seen the emergence of Dave Kruger and Sealver Siliga which adds depth to the front 4.
My Pick.....Utes win 34 - 17. |
