Rams Chat with John Dell

1:30
The WSSU chat is now open for questions. Big week, it's homecoming and Bowman Gray Stadium should be crowded on Saturday. I'm assuming some of the fans will actually watch the football game.
1:31
The Rams, who finally won a game, are 1-6 and will face Hampton, which is 2-3.
1:31
Feel free to fire away with some questions about WSSU athletics.
1:35
Anybody out there?
1:39
Still waiting for that first question. I guess everybody is too busy at work to break away for a live chat.
1:42
The Rams have lost two straight homecoming games, but can break that losing streak against the Pirates, who have lost two straight games.
1:43
By the way Coach Kermit Blount, who is in his 17th season, will be coaching or playing in his 21st homecoming game. He went through homecoming four times as a player and 16 more times as a caoch.

WSSU

Yes, it seems to be working. And yes WSSU is short for Winston-Salem State.
1:49
Besides football the WSSU basketball team is practicing and actually had a scrimmage against Appalachian State yesterday. Haven't heard from Bobby Collins about how the scrimmage went.
1:50
I do know that Paul Davis, the starting center, is stil hobbled by off-season hip surgery. He hasn't practiced yet this season.
1:55
OK, this chat seems to be going nowhere. Maybe we should switch subjects. Or maybe all the WSSU fans are already in Winston ready to celebrate homecoming.

Has there been any word on the AD search?
1:59
There's some sort of board meeting on thursday and it might be decided then, but I'm still not sure where they stand at this point. They are keeping it quiet.

Have the alumni gotten their acts together yet?

Not sure what you are asking, I do know there's some sort of rally on Friday at 3:30 p.m. on campus.

Hopefully, it'll be positive. We don't need to tear ourselves down any more. It's time to build up.

I will say that in the 14 years I've covered WSSU athletics it's the most splintered the alumni has ever been. It was never as bad as it is right now.

With the win last week and Hampton's big loss last week, is the team appearing positive heading into homecoming?
2:03
They are much more confident, but does that mean the offense will be improved? That's the big question. Something to watch for in Saturday's game is if the Rams can score on offense the first time they have the ball. If they can do that, it would be a huge bonus.
