Jerry Reese has all but stated that he will trade draft picks away before the draft... who's he gonna get? Tony Gonzalez? Anquan Boldin? Any other targets you have in mind?
11:02
I do believe Jerry R. will in fact trade some picks. I think he'll certainly take a run at Gonzalez and/or Boldin, but to me, the more logical guy to watch is Braylon Edwards. Reese told me  he would not trade Mathias Kiwanuka for Braylon Edwards, but he did not entirely discount the possibility of trading for Edwards. The more I think about Edwards, the more I think it makes sense. Yes, I know he drops a ton of passes. But Plaxico dropped his share in Pittsburgh before coming to the Giants. Edwards has two things that are tough to find in receivers - size and tremendous talent.

Bob, Do you see the Jets defense as a top 5-10 defense this year?
11:04
Yes, I think that is very possible with Rex Ryan now in charge. It will not be perfect, by any means, but there will be an aggressiveness that I believe will create a ton of turnovers. The key to defense isn't so much in yards allowed - that seems to be the stat people focus on - but in points allowed. If the Jets can get that number down, then I think they're looking at a far better defense than in years past.

What are the chances of the G-men moving up to get Mualuaga? Do you think they will make moves with the players they have to move up or the draft picks?
11:06
I think it depends on what's ahead of them. He certainly fills a need at linebacker, but I think the Giants believe they can get another couple years out of Pierce. That said, Maualuga is certainly a terrific prospect.

Why doesn't Denver just trade Josh McDaniels for Eric Mangini and get this all over with already...?
11:08
Ha! ... Yes, Blitz, it is certainly interesting how both young men have done their share to alienate a good deal of their players BEFORE they've even had a training camp practice. But that's the m.o. that both coaches took away from their mentor, Bill Belichick. The only difference - THE DIFFERENCE - is that Belichick had just slightly more credibility when he got into the head coaching ranks as far as his resume. It will be an interesting run for Mangini and McDaniels, for sure.

What going to happen to Jay Cutler? Will the Broncos trade him? Is their a possbillity that Broncos heac coach Josh McDainels will get fired?
11:09
Dennis, there is zero chance that McDaniels will get fired over this. I would put the chances of a Cutler trade slightly higher than that, only because you can never say never with these things. My sense is that the two men will eventually work things out in some fashion, although I'm positive that as long as Cutler is in Denver, he will be playing with a chip on his shoulder ... no, make that a boulder.

Bob, love your work, please keep it up. So how could Steve Tisch say say on Tuesday that he hasn't heard "anybody complaining" about the PSLs for the new stadium? Does he live under a rock? Is he just lying outright for PR purposes? Read any Giants blog or message board and you'll see a resounding amount of negative feedback on this issue. I'm sure you've gotten your fair share.
11:11
BostonGiant, thanks for the props ... Yes, it is a little surprising to see any owner who is selling PSL's say he hasn't heard any complaining. Even in cities where PSL's have been sold, there has always been grumbling. And there has been plenty with both the Jets and Giants. I think Tisch is simply trying to be a good businessman and put a happy spin on things. He surely knows that there is much, much angst among fans ... as there should be. Even before the economy turned south, there was plenty of grumbling on it.

What moves do you think the Giants should still do in order to have the pieces in place for the season?
11:13
LTmLT, I think the Giants are in the enviable position of being a team that now needs depth more than anything. The obvious big issue is at wide receiver, and there really won't be any finality until the Plaxico Burress situation is cleared up. And even if the Giants do bring him back (that's a big 'if') I think they will look to solidify the position. Aside from the fact that Burress has legal issues, he's 31 years old and has had injury problems (aside from the bullet to the thigh).

I'm just going to say it, you have connections with Mike Tannebaum. 17th Pick, Kellen Clemens, and maybe a 3rd or something for Cutler. Thoughts?
11:13
I will call him as soon as this chat is over.

[Comment From tallyrand]
ok i'll get it over with...the Jets? Jay Cutler? discuss.
11:15
Adam, in all seriousness,  I don't think Tannenbaum is going to make a run at Cutler. There have already been indications that he prefers to see what Clemens and Ratliff (and maybe MAYBE Ainge) have. Plus, I believe the price for Cutler will now be prohibitive. Don't forget, the only reason the Cutler stuff was in play was because Matt Cassel was still available. That was the guy who made that thing news. With no viable alternative now at QB, I think the Broncos hold onto Cutler.

Good morning, tallyrand.

Is anyone else as tired as I am about the PSL's? It is what it is, get over it already! Pay the money or stay home. Complain about Gilbride still being a Giant!! Agree Bob?
