Tell me, who do the Conservatives think they are kidding? Their bright new idea, a "home protection scheme" of £8, 000 to secure a place within an old peoples' home, is frankly chilling in its implications. If you can talk to these deluded individuals, then ask them one question: How can an ordinary grandmother in a house she bought from the council afford £8,000 without selling her house?

Alex Khruzhchev, They will do it by approaching one of the many companies that offer cash for a partial stake in your home. They can easily raise 8 grand by doing that and then they are guaranteed to keep the rest of their capital on their home rather than hand it over to a nursing home manager.
