President Obama's address to school students

11:44
While we wait for the president to come on stage, check our "quick poll" about the controversy over whether it is or isn't appropriate for him to be speaking to the nation's students (as presidents George H.W. Bush and Ronald Reagan did before him).

Assuming the president sticks to his text, he'll stress right at the start of his address that he's got a message for the kids -- not their parents or teachers:

"At the end of the day, we can have the most dedicated teachers, the most supportive parents, and the best schools in the world – and none of it will matter unless all of you fulfill your responsibilities. Unless you show up to those schools; pay attention to those teachers; listen to your parents, grandparents and other adults; and put in the hard work it takes to succeed.

"And that’s what I want to focus on today: the responsibility each of you has for your education. I want to start with the responsibility you have to yourself."

There is clearly double standard for this President with the far Right Conservatives. The controversy is ridicules

Also while we wait, you might check a story just posted by Politico: "Adviser Losing Patience With Obama".

Steve Hildebrand, "one of President Barack Obama’s former top campaign advisers is 'losing patience' with the White House, he told POLITICO Tuesday morning, as frustrations among the president’s liberal allies crest over issues from health care legislation to gay rights."

Duncan and the president of Wakefield's senior class are now on stage, so the president's appearance must be coming up shortly.

"I’m here because I want to talk with you about your education and what’s expected of all of you in this new school year," Obama says.
