Live Chat With Jerry Sullivan

Sully -  So  what do you think of Shaquille O'Neal going to the Cavs. Smells of desperation to me.

Were the players generally sanguine with the course layout, greens, etc at Bethpage (ignoring the affects from the weather)? On TV, the greens appeared beat up, and perhaps a bit inconsistent. Curious if the traditional US Open course set up tends to lend itself to producing a darkhorse winner.

Sully -  Sanguine, great start to the chat. Players weren't doing any complaining. I did think some of the greens looked a little bump. Of course, I saw a replay of Tiger's putt on 18 at Torrey Pines and it was bumping a little on the way. Players haven't done any serious whining since 2005 at Pinehurst. Mike Davis doesn't try to punish them the way previous competition chairmen did.

I'd have to agree, but were there any other options for a big man out there?
1:05
Sully -

No, it's pretty thin for proven big people. So it's a worthwhile stab for the Cavs. Shaq is certainly better than Ben Wallace.

Terrible trade, imo. How do you give up Ben Wallace AND a 2nd? stupid.
1:06
Sully -  I think Wallace is retiring, plus he's useless. A second-rounder isn't that big a deal -- especially for a team picking late in the draft.

Sully how was Long Island? U never came down to astoria queens..the shaq deal is not only desperation, but it will do nothing for the cavs, the reason why they lost to orlando was they couldnt defend the pick in role...shaq certainly wont help that case! they should of tried and get lamar odom or ron artest or both. your thoughts
1:07
Sully -

I agree Shaq won't put them over the top. But they do need a big body to lean on Howard. I love Artest, but he can't handle Howard down low.
