hey sam... i have to tell u... after a tough loss like last nights, there is nothing better than reading ur columns and listening to 610wip. as much as it hurts after a loss, u guys truly make us feel better

wow, that's a first. unless you're being a wise guy. in which cas, that was pretty funny

Sam, do you think Charlie will shake up the lineup tonight? Maybe move Werth to the cleanup spot to break up the two lefthanded bats of Utley & Howard?
1:01
not sure i see the need with a righty starting against them

They'll win tonight without a doubt... who pitches game 7 though?
1:02
I think he starts Lee, brings in Hamels, and then pieces it together from there. but from your lips to god's ear

Was pitching Blanton over Lee really a mistake? Lee has never pitched on 3 days rest. Plus, Blanton didn't lose the game. Any team that outhomers the other by two and loses simply had bad luck (defined as an overly high BABIP).

sam -  had a lot of emails on my column. didn't do a good enough job explaining myself last night, so let me take another whack. Charlie has had so few sure things this postseason with his pitching that I tought he should give it a shot. Blanton vs. Burnett in tonight's game made so much more sense to me, especially if you're behind 2-1 and think you'll need lee again in this series.

Even if it gets to game 6, you don't like Pedro's chances a 2nd time around with this crew do you?
1:06
sam -  actually  i do. pettitte a little old and hasn't been real good in his most recent stabs with three days rest. wish it was a home game though. and if that happens, ny will be iin one huge panic

Disagree about Lee. Last night's loss had nothing to do with Blanton (or for that matter Sabathia). In any event, the lede is that the two players possibly most responsible for the Phils post-season success last year--Hamels and Lidge--are ironically the two players probably most responsible for the Phils failures in the World Series this year. And the frustrating thing is that both players showed great stuff this series. Hamels was throwing a no hitter until A-Rod homered in Game 3, and Lidge looked terrific until Damen singled. These are two players who collapsed under pressure (in Hamels case it wasn't even really pressure. More like some adversity )even though they faced and succeeded under pressure last year. Why do you think that is?

sam -  cc spoke about the mental aspect being the tougher thing to deal with on 3 days rest. i think the same can be said about two guys who were constantly comparing last season to this. it's why so few teams get to defend their titles I think

J.A. Happ should pitch Gm 7...Cole should not step on the field again in this series

sam -  i'd be with you if I had seen more from Happ in Colorado. He, like Cole, makes me afraid right now

I wouldn't blame Charlie for starting Blanton in Game 4- 4-man was his approach all series. I question why Girardi is starting his ace this series on short rest. NY is playing with house money tonight. why not start Gaudin for Game 5? any thoughts..

sam -  i'm with joe. you go for the kill, especially knowing you have cc against phillies staff in Game 7. Last night was huge
