My kids love hot dogs. I know they are bad for you because they have nitrates in them. Are there any healthy alternatives for hot dogs?

- It's actually not the nitrates which are most problematic... it's the artery clogging fat (traditional hot dogs are about 70% fat!). Try lean turkey sausages... the same shape with much less fat and much more protein. I love Shady Brook Farm -- but there are soooo many great brands on the market. Good luck.

Why are so many people having more belly fat? I have noticed even teenagers are getting it. Growth hormones in food maybe?

- I think it's probably because we are getting fatter "overall" and many people lay it down in the belly area. The good news is that it tends to come off the belly pretty fast if you watch what you eat and exercise. For menopausal women... belly fat IS a problem due to hormonal shifts (but this is typically not the case with kids). me are also genetically prone to lay down belly fat.

WOW! I didn't realize that popcorn contained so many calories! My problem is that I work in a movie theatre where popcorn is readily available to me. What should I bring to work to snack on instead?

- Yikes... that's tough because we all know how great popcorn popping in oil smells! Bring baby carrots, chew sugarless gum and sip on lots of water (or even diet soda if it helps you to get through your shift).

- yes... just don't drink so much that you start to feel nauseated.
